Chapter 5

Nathan saw her heading toward the showroom and instinctively followed her. He pushed through the crowd until he was directly behind her, then reached out and tapped her shoulder. The woman turned around, but the face staring back at him was completely unfamiliar. "What do you want?" She didn't recognize him, and her attitude instantly changed. She gave him a warm smile. "Can I help you?” Nathan's expression darkened, and he said coldly, "Sorry I mistook you for someone else." He turned and walked away without another word. The woman stared after him, shocked, before angrily cursing, "Are you crazy?" But Nathan didn't even look back, leaving her with nothing but his retreating figure. Not far away, Elena stood among the crowd, watching Nathan's back with a cold smile. "Nathan, years ago I treated you like my most precious treasure, I loved you, but you never valued me. I won't give you another chance to hurt me." She put on her mask and turned toward the showroom. Soon, the event began. Models walked onto the stage one after another, showcasing the latest pieces, while Elena sat quietly at the back, watching with an unreadable expression. Then she spotted the two people who had betrayed her, and her chest suddenly tightened. Aurora turned toward Nathan and smiled, "Babe, this is the design I commissioned a designer abroad to create for you. The style and color choices are both fresh and bold. What do you think?" Nathan gave no expression as he gave a brief nod. "Not bad." Aurora sensed his indifference but didn't dare question him. She simply maintained a polite smile. “My clue this time is to secure the biggest share of the summer market with this design. I hope it will be successful." Nathan didn't answer. His eyes drifted aimlessly, barely noticing the stunning outfits on stage. Only one thought was in his mind. “Was that Elena I just saw? No, that's impossible. Elena is already dead.” That woman not only killed Marcus Moretti, but she also ran away with her lover on the very night she signed the divorce papers, turning him into the laughingstock of the entire city. How could he still think about her? But the harder he tried to push the thought away, the more clearly Elena's smiling face appeared in his mind. Aurora nudged his arm. "Nathan, the show is over. I'm going up to speak. Are you coming with me?” Nathan's expression darkened, and his voice remained cold. "You go ahead, I'm not going." Aurora's eyes filled with disappointment, but she could only force a faint smile. Alright then. She took the designer with her and walked onto the stage. At this point, it was customary for the main creators to give a speech, and the prepared content was already displayed on the large screen behind them. Aurora spoke confidently about the designs, explaining their concept, creative process, and inspiration. Suddenly, a commotion broke out among the crowd. She paid no attention to it, assuming her speech had impressed the audience and struck a chord with them. However, as the disturbance grew louder. Aurora suddenly panicked. "What's going on everyone?” Aurora glanced toward Nathan, only to find him staring intently at something behind her, so she quickly turned around. The large screen suddenly displayed boldly. "Plagiarist. Murderer." “Ah..."Aurora screamed in terror and collapsed onto the floor. The screen then changed, showing a cartoon character of a woman struggling in the sea, screaming for help. The female cartoon character on the screen continued struggling in the water, her voice growing more desperate with every second. "Aurora, Save me! Help me.” Aurora felt like her head was about to split apart. She cried out in panic, "Who put up this video? Turn it off! Quickly turn it off.” She then rushed backstage. However, reporters were already there, and they quickly surrounded her, giving her no chance to escape. "Miss Aurora, what do those words on the screen mean? Could a major brand like Rogue Thread really be involved in plagiarism?" "The woman in that video, who is she? She was crying and calling out your name for help.” “What does the video mean?" "Miss Aurora…” Aurora felt a chill run through her entire body as countless frightening thoughts flooded her mind. She couldn't bear it anymore and said, "How would I know? I don't even know her.” She pushed through the crowd and rushed toward Nathan in a panic, only to find that his seat was already empty, and he had already headed for the door. She panicked and hurried after him. "Nathan, listen to me, this is all a misunderstanding, it's not what you think.” Nathan stopped and looked at her with a sharp stare, "Then what the hell is it?" "It's..." Just then, the image on the big screen changed again. "I'm back" In bold words appeared on the screen. Aurora screamed and almost stumbled to the ground, but Nathan quickly reached out and caught her. She stared at the screen in disbelief and murmured, "It's impossible, how could this be…” Aurora's face went pale, and Nathan's expression darkened as well. He released her and said coldly, “Vanessa , stay with Director Moretti. If anything happens, call me." Aurora panicked. "Nathan! Nathan, don't go..." Nathan ignored her and walked out of the venue without looking back. After getting into the car, Nathan ordered Derek "Block all exits immediately and search everywhere for Elena. I want to know where she is." Derek froze, clearly shocked. Master, did you mean your wife?" Nathan let out a cold sneer. He was still confused, if the figure he spotted outside the fashion show earlier was a mistake. Was it really Elena Bennett? Even if that wasn't her, she is present at this show and responsible for the outburst. After disappearing for seven years and leaving him to carry the shame of her actions, she had finally returned. “Elena, what do you want now?” Elena hadn't expected Nathan to react so quickly. She had planned to keep her identity hidden and slowly frustrate him, but that seemed impossible now. Since that was the case, she would find out other ways to play her game. She quickly removed the wig, changed into a different clothes and an extra makeup she had prepared in advance, then tossed everything into a trash can before calmly walking out. Outside, bodyguards stood at every exit, checking everyone as they exited the building. When it was Elena's turn to walk out, the body guards took a second suspicious look at her. Elena rolled her eyes. "Is there a problem?." The guards exchanged looks and impatiently waved her through. Elena walked away with confidence. Nathan sat in his car with the window halfway down, watching, then a woman who just walked out of the fashion caught his attention. The woman's makeup was extra but she looked like Elena, but his instincts told him otherwise. He was sure that it was Elena. Then he ordered Derek in a deep voice to follow that car in front pointing at the car Elena entered.
