Chapter 6 Makayla pedaled past the guard house after stopping to show him her identification. The wind was picking up and she could feel the first light sprinkle of rain. She knew her cheeks were a rosy color from the cold, stinging breeze coming in off the water and from her bike ride. She coasted down the slight slope, turning at the end before pedaling the last few feet to the beginning of the dock where the Defiance was moored. It looked like she would just make it before the rains.
