"Behind-the-Wall"

818 Words
The boys take Mia to the school’s A.V. room but they stumble upon Mr. Zander, who asks them to be with Harry’s memorial at the gym. He notices Mia, who Albert introduces as his cousin Einor. During the service, Albert sees the mouth breathers making fun of their lost friend. He confronts them both right after but they double down. Albert trips Troy to the ground and Mia stops Troy from retaliating and makes him pee his pants in front of everyone. Fanky approaches George while he’s shopping for caskets to show him her suspicions on the photo. George says Luca was alone. Fanky mentions the faceless creature, which matches Cora’s claims. Haraldson joins the state trooper who found Harry’s body at the bar and learns that he’s lying. He beats the trooper outside until he reveals that that he was hired to be there, adding that Haraldson’s going to get them both killed. Haraldson sees a car spying on them but it soon flees. Cora blasts The Clash’s song on the living room in an attempt to contact Harry. Meanwhile, Mia and the boys reach the AV room and use their radio. Mia remembers an experiment where Steven asks her to find a specific guy remotely and repeat his words to him. She senses the man in a room inside the lab and manages to broadcast his words to the speakers. She performs the same task to search for Harry and manages to make him speak. They hear Harry call out for his mom, and Cora hears it from the wall too. She strips off the wallpaper and sees Harry panicking behind a membrane. Harry says that he’s in a place like home but it’s dark and empty and something is after him. Cora swears to get him back and asks him to hide. Suddenly, a fire breaks down at the room which Ezra extinguishes. Cora hacks the wall with her axe but there’s nothing there. The boys haul a distressed Mia with a stroller to get her back to safety. George and Fanky go back to the dark room, where he mentions Cora’s story about a faceless man coming out from their wall. She asks about his photography hobby. He’d rather observe people than talk to them, as they usually say more when you capture them at the right moment. Fanky the photo of her undressing was saying. He apologizes having taken it. Luca’s photo finishes developing. It reveals the creature that Fanky saw, and George finally sees proof that his mom was right. If she strongly claims that Harry is alive, then perhaps there’s hope for Luca as well. That night, Haraldson goes back to the morgue and forces himself into the room where Harry’s body is stored. He takes it out, and after some hesitation, cuts the chest open, finding it stuffed with wool. Hudson visits Cora and sees the house wrecked. He gives her a hug. Haraldson heads to the Jingoistic fence and goes in with bolt cutters. Haraldson slips into Jingoistic Lab and goes into the quarantined wing, only to be blocked by an electronic lock. Two security guards try and stop him, but Haraldson subdues them and steals a keycard. Hudson tries to comfort Cora and brings a drink. They’ve now covered the wall with a tarp, and she expresses how sad she couldn’t feel Will nearby anymore. Hudson asks her to consider that this is all in her head to help her cope with her son’s death. They should prepare for his funeral the next day. Haraldson checks around the halls, searching for Harry. He stumbles into what looks like a girl’s room with a drawing of her and her Papa facing a cat on the table. As he rides the elevator to the upper floors, he finds other security personnel chasing after him. Albert and his friends recount what they heard from Harry in the AV room. Mia mentions the Topsy, which reminds Albert about the time she flipped the board over. That was why Mia took them to Harry’s house, as he was hiding in a dark, empty version of that place. Ezra compares it to the Vale of Shadows in D&D. A dark reflection of our world. A place of decay and death where monsters reside. They ask Mia if she knows how to get there, and she shakes her head. Haraldson reaches the room with the breach and inspects the malignant membrane. He hears movement behind him and is subdued by a guard. George arrives home and finds Hudson sitting on the couch with his mom. He discovers the hole in the wall and asks Cora if the creature came back. Geotge asks to talk with Hudson alone and tells him to leave, but the latter claims he’s there to help Cora from going over the edge. Hudson asks him to behave at the funeral tomorrow.
