Albert, Ezra, and Joseph manage to take Mia back to Albert’s house after finding her in the woods. Albert stops his friends from bombarding her with questions, clearly seeing that she’s scared and cold. He offers her a fresh change of clothes. She starts changing in front of them, which freaks the boys out. Albert takes her to the bathroom to change. She refuses to close the door all the way through and responds to Albert’s questions with a simple “yes” and “no”.
Ezra and Joseph wonder if she’s mentally sane, with the latter suggesting she could have escaped from an asylum. They suggest telling Albert’s mom about her but Albert reminds them they weren’t supposed to be out that night. If they get into trouble, they would never be able to find Harry.
Albert decides to let her sleep for the night and plans to have her ring the doorbell at the front door so her mom could answer her. Scarlett Jackson would likely know what to do by then and call Social Services. Once they’re in the clear, they can go out and look for Harry once more.
Albert creates a fort for the girl with chairs and blankets. He asks for her name, and she shows her the “Mia” tattoo, pointing to herself. Albert introduces his name as short for Al, suggesting that they could do the same with her and George Jayden tries to urge Cora to have some breakfast, but she’s anxious over how many missing posters they should print out in the copy shop. Haraldson comes over and tells them they found nothing after searching that night. He came to investigate the phone call she received. Haraldson sees the fried phone and thinks it must have been caused by the storm.
Cora insists that she heard Harry, and that he was scared. Haraldson thinks it could’ve been a prank and Cora lashes out that it’s not. Haraldson decides to go to Hudson to check. George offers to go instead of him but the officer tells him to stay and comfort his mom.
Next morning, Albert puts an extra piece of waffles in his pockets to give to Mia. Albert tells her to go outside and ring the doorbell to meet with her mom but she refuses. From the grim look on her face, Albert realizes she’s in trouble and asks from whom. Mia mentions the bad people, and gestures a finger-gun.
Back in jingoistic Lab, Dr. Richardn hears Cora insisting that she heard Harry’s voice that night.
Richard invites Fanky for a party with his friends at his house since his parents would be out for the night. They see George putting out missing posters nearby and give some snide comments. Fanky approaches him and says she’s sorry about what happened.
Joseph and Ezra notice Albert’s seat is empty. Their friend is back at home, giving Mia a tour of the living room. She admires the family photos and the couch.
Meanwhile, Dr. Richardn and his team inspect the Jayden’s household with their suits and instruments. Richardn finds the mysterious fluid in their back shed.
Mia sees a picture of Albert and his friends winning the science fair. She points to Harry’s picture with recognition. Suddenly, Albert’s mother comes home and hears them running. Albert hides Mia in the closet, promising to come back and not tell her secret. Mia goes inside and remembers her time being punished back at the lab.
Albert tells her mother that he doesn’t feel well. She doesn’t punish him, thinking that he’s still worried about Harry’s disappearance. She urges him to tell her if she needs anything. Albert goes back to free Mia from the closet and finds her in tears.
Cora begs her employer at the store to give her an advance and asks for a new phone. She goes back home and installs it, waiting for another call.
The search for Harry continues in the woods. Haraldson warns Jacob not to stand near the cliff of game, as that would mean certain death. Haraldson gets a call from Troy’s Burgers and goes there to inspect. They find Troy dead, his death staged as a suicide.
George remembers, he and Harry listening to “Should I Stay or Should I Go” as they try to cope with their deadbeat father. He visits Hudson’s house to look for Harry but only finds disappointment.
Ezra and Joseph go back to Albert’s home, disappointed that Mia is still there. Albert tries to convince them that Mia recognized Harry, and that it wasn’t a coincidence that they found her at the place where Harry went missing. The bad people she mentioned could be the ones who’ve taken Harry. Joseph insists on telling Scarlett about it, but the door shuts close as soon as he opens it and locks itself. The three look back at El with blood running down her nose. She says no.
Troy’s frequent customer, Earl, tells Haraldson that there was a boy the previous day that tried to steal food. They show him Harry’s photo but Earl says this one has a buzz cut.
Fanky tries to urge Luca to go with her to Richard’s place. Fanky convinces her mom to go, pretending that there’s an assembly for Harry. Suddenly, Mia walks down the stairs into view. Ezra distracts them by slamming the table.
During the search, Mr. Zander finds a piece of cloth down a drainpipe. They follow the path which leads to the fence at Jingoistic. Later, Haraldson wonders if he’s cursed, as events like these haven’t happened in Jingoistic in years.
The three boys give Mia dinner and apologize for what happened earlier, saying they were just trying to find their friend. She asks what that word means, and they explain the concept to her, adding that they’ll do everything for each other.
Mia goes to Albert’s D&D table and takes Harry’s figure. She flips the board and places the figure, saying he’s hiding there. When asked from whom, she takes the Werehyene’s piece and places it beside Harry’s.
Luca warns Fanky that Richard is only trying to get into her pants but she ignores her.
George goes to the woods to take pictures that might lead to Harry. He hears a girl scream, which leads him to Richard’s house party. Luca cuts herself trying to open a beer can. Richard takes pictures as the couples jump into the pool.
That night, Cora gets a call and hears Harry’s voice, but the phone shocks her and fries once again. She screams in anguish, but then the lights flicker. The flashing lights lead her to George’s room, where the radio suddenly plays “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by itself. The lamp flickers one more time, and a humanoid figure emerges from the wall, causing her to panic and flee. After a brief scare, she decides to check it out once more.
Before Fanky could go to Richard’s room to change, Luca asks her what she was doing. Fanky insists that she’s fine and can find another way to go home, telling Luca to leave if she wants. Luca insists this isn’t like her.
George takes a picture of Fanky and Richard making out by the window. He also sees Luca alone and dejected by the pool. A drop of her blood falls into the water and it suddenly turns dark. A creature emerges and takes Luca.
Luca wakes up at an alternate version of Richard Maddox’s pool, but this place is dark and full of black tendrils growing on the ground. The creature that took her, which looks like a faceless man with monstrous figures catches up as Luca struggles to climb out of the empty pool, yelling Fanky’s name. Fanky senses her friend calling out, but she’s currently losing her virginity to Richard.
Fanky leaves while Richard sleeps while wearing his sweatshirt against the cold. Scarlett scolds her for coming home late. Fanky makes an excuse that she forgot the time but her mom notices Richard’s sweatshirt. She brushes it off as nothing, even when Scarlett tells her she can be honest with her.
George wakes up to the sound of his mother talking to Harry through the lights. He finds her surrounded by lamps from all over the house, which are now arranged around her. Cora asks Harry a question and one of the lights flickers but George isn’t convinced. She insists that Harry is talking to her while George urges her to get some sleep while he makes breakfast.
To prepare for another night of searching for Harry, Joseph brings binoculars, a knife, a hammer, and a wrist rocket to Albert’s house. Ezra brought some snacks and trail mix, saying they don’t need weapons now that they have Mia. They argue as to whether or not she has after what little they saw, so Ezra asks her to let Albert’s Faklon fly. Scarlett calls everyone to prepare for school, but before leaving, Albert asks Mia to meet them at the power lines by 1:15. He gives her his digital watch and tells her how to check it.
