We have a routine now. I know when the entity vanishes because extra treats appear. The soothing balm rushes in when my thoughts wander to Springside and especially when they wander to Malcolm. The books on the shelves rearrange themselves, and it’s as if the entity is directing my education. It’s a bit passive aggressive, but it’s effective. Besides, it only laughs when I complain.
