Chapter 6 For a long moment, none of us speak. I don’t relish the idea of going back in. But Carter’s right. The knot is here, behind the stainless steel door. “How are we going to get in?” Belinda whispers. Before I can answer, the handle rattles, and the door creaks open. A gust of cold air rolls from the space, chasing strands of hair from my cheeks and making Belinda’s ponytail sway. The breeze ripples through the kitchen, and the stainless steel racks shudder in its wake. “Oh, this is bad,” Carter mutters. Inside the room, clouds hang in the air from ceiling to floor. I catch glimmers here and there—something in the shape of a sprite I once caught, a more robust ghost lurking near the back. In the center, a huge cluster of ghosts is gathering. At least, I think they are. One mom
