Rejection can't be Handled

Helen was teasing her about Eden. He had joined their university three months ago. He had migrated last semester because of his scholarship. He was a poor guy from a faraway town. The thing Izzy liked about him was that he was the only guy in college who dared to talk to her. He never hangs out with her, but he never looked afraid of her security guards.
She liked him for the first time when she forgot her phone in class, and he followed her. Her guards stopped her, but he looked them in the eyes.
“Am I looking like a criminal to you? I am not dying to meet your Celebrity princess. I am just here to return her this phone. You can give it to her if you want.”
He walked away after saying that and after that she noticed him. He used to sit with his friend “Zack.” Zack was a family friend, so upon asking, he told her about Eden. Eden's parents passed away when he was young, and he was in a shelter home. He was a good student and was fond of studying. Therefore, he was brilliant in his class and got first rank in the college exam. He was offered a scholarship at this university, but he couldn’t pay the other amount, so he rejected it. This was his last semester, so the university allowed him to migrate and complete his degree. He never talks to girls. He was very decent. Although he dresses like an average guy, his personality is very dominating. He was hardworking and a nice guy.
Izzy didn’t realize that she had started liking him even more. She started talking to him from time to time about his notes and that’s when he finally started saying hello to her. She never thought she would get butterflies just by looking at his face. His brown eyes and dark brown hair were so damn cute. She was coming to university just to see him. She was also regretting that she hadn’t talked to him about anything else. He never gave her the chance.
It was her last month and Helen was giving her the courage to talk to him for once and open up about her feelings. She was insisting again.
“Come on Izzy. At least for once. You will regret it later on.”
“On farewell day. I would try.”
“It will be after one month.”
I will try. You know how difficult it gets when I stand near him. Still, I would think.”
She knew she would never have the courage to do that. Still, she decided she would ask him for a coffee. Although she won’t be allowed to go out, she can go out to any of the restaurants owned by her family. She was cooking all that up in her mind when Helen shook her.
“Come on Izzy, you got to do something instead of just planning. Let’s go. We are home.”
“already???”
She made a sad face and as soon as he stepped out of her car she got excited about seeing her mom and dad. They must be back from their business trip. She rushed towards them and hugged them one by one. She was happy and was finally laughing with them on the lawn. While enjoying tea with her family, her grandpa asked.
“How’s your university going?? All set to join your office??”
“Grandpa, please. We both agreed we wouldn’t talk about work, especially during our meals or tea breaks. And about the office, I don’t know I am thinking of taking a little break. Don’t you think it’s too early for me to join? I am half the age of most of your employees. Do you think I can handle that??? I mean I have no experience.”
“My dear angel, Business is in your blood. Trust me, it's going to be alright. Just make up your mind. You will be joining immediately after your farewell. Everything is all set and planned. I have called the board of directors meeting too. Your first official meeting will be with them. Your mom will help you out in other matters. Now I have to go. I have some guests to attend to.”
He left while Izzy was making sad faces. Her mom knew she didn’t want to do anything with business. But she had no choice. Once, a family member of their family decided to go against Grandpa, and she was abandoned by the whole family. Mrs Amelia Stone didn’t want anything like that for her daughter. She was training her well.
A few days passed and Izzy noticed that Eden wasn’t coming to class. She was worried but didn’t want to inquire from William. She didn’t want to sound desperate. She was finally helpless, and she went straight near William.
“Hey Will, by any chance you know anything about Eden??” I have to return his notes.”
“Oh Yeah. He got sick. He caught a cold, so he didn’t come to class.”
“How’s he now???”
“Yeah, he is alright. He said he would be coming today. I don’t know where he went.” Ahh, there he is.”
Izzy turned around and, as usual, her heart started beating fast. Eden was entering, but he wasn’t looking that good. He said hello to Izzy and sat next to William. She wanted to say something else but didn’t know what. She didn’t want to sound dumb.
After the class, she waited for everyone to leave and asked Helen to leave too. Eden was writing something when she finally mustered up her courage and came near him.
“Eden, Can I talk to you for a second???”
“Yes. What is it???”
She was clearing her throat and wanted to say something, but her words couldn’t leave her throat. She couldn’t say anything for a minute and Eden noticed that and stood up from her chair.
“Are you alright? Do you need something??”
“No, actually I wanted to ask something. Would it be okay if you joined me for a coffee??”
His face was still straight. He looked into her eyes.
“Yeah, of course. Come, we will grab it from the café on our way back home.”
“I don’t want to go there.”
“Fine, let’s get it from the café that’s outside the campus.”
“ You didn’t get it. I am not allowed to go there or anywhere public.”
“Where do you want it then??”
“At my restaurant?”
“Well, I have to think about that. You must be talking about your famous “Caprio Restaurant”??
“Yeah, why is there a problem??”
“It’s too far from here. I can’t afford it.”
“My driver will drop you. Don’t worry.”
“I might be poor, but I can’t take any favors from you like that. I think we have to cancel it.”
“But….”
“I will make it up to you. But that fancy restaurant is just outside my budget. And going there won’t suit me, similarly these local cafes don’t suit you. We will make some other plans.”
He left after saying that Izzy was feeling so bad. She never imagined any such situation. She knew Eden was different from normal guys, but rejecting her offer and hurting her feelings wasn’t the expected outcome.
She ran towards her car and with a heavy heart she closed her eyes. Helen asked what happened actually, and she shouted in anger.
“I told you I don’t wanna talk about anything right now. Just leave me alone.”
