*****************************************FLASHBACK******************************************
BEEP! ..BEEP!.. BEEP! ..BEEP!..BEEP!
*The Alarm goes off*
"Urrghh!" Tom's low growl filled the room.
Tom rolls over slamming his fist over the snooze button. obnoxiously waking his peacefully sleeping mate Diane from restful slumber.
"mmm.." she moans in-between stretches.
"Rise and shine kitten," Tom says with a smile as he bent down peppering kisses all over Diane's face and neck.
"Thomas!! Thomas! Cut it out!" she giggled back.
After a few more minutes in bed with his mate, Tom finally let her up for air, as he hopped up and made his way to the adjoining closet as Diane got up and walked over to their shared master bathroom. 10 minutes into her morning routine Diane looked over to a now fully dressed Tom watching her with a smirk on his face. With a mouthful of toothpaste, she shot him the brightest messiest smile. Tom chuckled as he stepped up to the sink grabbing his electric toothbrush.
"What's on the agenda for today?" Diane asked.
"Figured I get an early start on Ezra's physical training out in the woods. Fewer distractions out there. Maybe we will even get around to the basics of self-control, and connecting with one's wolf. I'll make a good soldier out of him yet, though his choices lately have proven otherwise" he replied.
"You must have patience yourself, Thomas. The boy is only but a boy, and with no wolf nonetheless don't you remember how you were at that age. Well, I remember hearing in 5th grade you turned little Ned's eye black and blue over a softball game remember that? ... Or the time you and Lewis got into that big fight over that silly little action figure!... Look my point is just to give your son a chance he's only a boy just as you were only a boy way back when." she said.
"Yeah but that was just kid stuff boys being boys but this no, I wasn't as strong as he is at his age. I mean you saw him Diane he's lifting weights I could never have picked up let alone holding it up like it weighs nothing. The other day the boy punched a tree and it fell over Diane! right onto the roof of the damn Greenland Pack library! for Goddess sake! what happened when we can't teach him to control it like ..." Tom stopped afraid to say more."
"LIKE WHAT!" Diane spat.
"Like ..like .. YOUR FATHER!" Thomas Responded.
Diane ran from the room quickly seething from the mouth the whole way to the kitchen on the first floor of her quiet little two-story house. Slamming around pots pans and dishes as she got out the ingredients needed to make breakfast for their three pups, who will be getting up shortly for classes. Tom now standing alone in the master bathroom knowing he messed up immediately began rushing out the bathroom through the empty bedroom and into the halls. crashing directly into his oldest now very startled and wide awake daughter queen on her way to the bathroom.
*Bunk*
"Ouch!!" Queen screamed as she fell back into the door of her now open bedroom causing her to hit the floor with a loud thud,
"Queenie are you alright?" Tom asked.
"I didn't hurt you did I?" he asked again.
"Oww! my tail bone! yeah dad, where's the fire?" she said .her voice laced with sarcasm
"I'm sorry queenie, your mother and I had a little bit of a disagreement and she stormed away so fast I didn't get to apologize," Tom admitted.
"Well, then it sounds like you have some making up to do," Queen replied.
"Good luck dad!." she said while entering the bathroom and shutting the door.
On the way towards the kitchen, Thomas stopped and peered into Ezra's bedroom. fast asleep as usual clinging onto a pillow like a toddler with his favorite stuffed teddy bear. after closing the door tom tip-toed to his youngest daughter Ellie's door opening the handle and peering in he found her fast asleep clenching the same book she had her nose in at dinner the night before. Such a book warm he chuckled to himself whilst he closed the door retreating down the stairs towards the now delicious smell of crispy bacon garlic and cheese eggs and sticky Cinnabon's emanating from the kitchen area of the house.
As Tom inched closer he could hear Diane's light footsteps dancing around the kitchen as she twirls to her favorite tune "cry me a river" she was humming along to the radio above the refrigerator. When she stopped mid sway, turned around, and looked me right in the face. She always knows when I'm watching her. I mean how could I not. She's the most beautiful she-wolf I've ever seen. With those long Ash Red curls flowing down her back and those mesmerizing eyes ..those bright emerald green saucers did me in every time and she knew it. She had this sad regretful look on her face making me feel guilty for the words I used earlier. Guilt waking me from my stare, I stepped forward with my hands out cupping her face in my palms.
"Look kitten, I'm sorry for the things I said. I meant no harm. And I hate myself each time your heart or your feelings get hurt by my words or actions. But we both know nothing I said isn't true. He's a risk we knew we were taking years ago."
"A risk? Do you think having a son... our son? was taking a risk?" Diane asked tears threatening to fall from her eyes as she turned the stove off and went to wash dishes.
Thomas grabbed his coffee to go and stormed out the back door slamming it behind him. Seconds later Ezra emerged from the house in his dress in his light grey dry-fit sweat pants and matching hoodie. Ready to train, something that he loved doing with his dad. Nothing like a little bit of father-son bonding.
