Zane said nothing the whole ride to the hospital, just occasionally kissing the back of my hand. Jaxon cried a bit and I climbed into the back seat and fed him. He was perfect, not a single scar on him. The radio played with breaking news about the events that led to the Sheriff being killed. They’ve mentioned Zane’s innocence and I cracked a small smile.
“It’s really over. We can move on with our lives now,” I said.
“Yes we can, baby. I have the two most important people with me right now.”
