How are you, professor?’ I asked. ‘Well,’ he replied in between bouts of non-stop panting. That ascent was beginning to take its toll, and I remained at his side to help him. After an hour climbing, we spotted a pair of huge condors majestically circling the top of the mountain. ‘Have you seen the size of that one?’ James said, pointing to the male of the pair. ‘They are spectacular,’ I replied. ‘Look. Their nest is over there amongst those rocks.’ ‘This is where the easy part of the climb ends,’ Néstor interrupted us.
