‘Do we have time to prepare everything?’ I asked incredulously. ‘We’ve no choice. The expedition has now become a race.’ I huffed feeling extremely disconcerted. The expedition was complicated enough under normal conditions, but from that moment on every minute would count. We went up to the room thinking that the Frenchmen had not recognized us.
