The working days became exhausting. Our efforts always seemed insufficient without a moment’s respite. What’s more, the incessant rain complicated matters and pushed us to our limits. The sound of machetes cutting through the undergrowth didn’t stop for a single moment. The tribespeople sang folk songs to cope with the long working hours while the birds took off in search of new habitats.
