Theora couldn't help but chuckle at Breorion's shocked expression. It was nice to be the one to surprise him for once. She bit her lower lip while he stared at her, visibly in utter disbelief.

"I am not joking," Theora chuckled. "I mean, not really. Think about it. Wouldn't it be an ideal position? If I am your secret mistress, I don't have to put my lineage out there. We could be each other's secret and keep that rumor mill going. You get to remain that bachelor Duke everyone wants to do business with or introduce their daughter to."
"I don't get to remain anything very long if the House De Crescent makes sure I am involved in a very unfortunate and likely painful accident for not treating my lady like she deserves," Breorion scoffed.
