For the first time since she had emerged from the Archive, genuine surprise crossed her face. "No..." She whispered it to herself. "No, you're not supposed to be awake." The silver horizon beyond the doorway rippled. The perfect world stopped advancing. The flowers froze. The sunlight dimmed. Everything inside the Archive seemed to be waiting.
