MI VIDA

ADRIAN Mi Vida. Fern, my wolf stirred, his blood sang with exhilaration. ‘Mate. Our mate…’ The one I’d been seeing in my dreams for as long as I can remember. Wavy brown hair that caressed her shoulders. Sea blue eyes. Long pointy nose, and the perfect frame of oval face to accentuate her features. She was just like I used to see in my dreams. I thought the entire flight was a dream. But the jolt of pressure that shot through my skin when she clutched at me, proved me wrong. For years, I combed the entirety of New York, searching for her. A wisp, her scent. Anything to assure me that she was somewhere, waiting to be claimed by me. For twelve years, I searched. I got nothing. I decided to come back to Aragon for the Christmas celebration. It had been a tradition for the Navarro Alpha family to spend Christmas together in the pack. A tradition I’d consistently broken time and time again. My action had caused a huge dent on the already strained relationship I had with my father. First, it was an accident. The second time was deliberate by the moon goddess. She hadn’t perceived the bond between us, typical of humans. Beta Jacob scoffed. He gave me a small bow, “It’s a pleasure to have you here, at this time,” He stated. “She’s the daughter of the former Beta, who is on the verge of facing execution for trying to kill the King,” I arched a questioning brow at him. A series of questions raced through my mind. I simply grunted, and shifted my gaze to Alpha Leo Navarro. “What did I miss, Alpha?” Sarcasm tainted my question. Alpha Leo’s lips thinned. “For twelve years I tried to reach out to you to come back and take your place as Alpha,” He pinned me with a stern glare. “When you finally showed up, you’re claiming the child of an impostor as your mate,” My muscles cramped at my fathers vile words. My wolf, Fern let out a low growl. He didn’t search half the world for his mate to have anyone talk down on her. Anyone. Something flared in my chest. I didn’t even get her name yet, and she was already causing chaos in my head. “There are some things we can’t control,” I said casually. “You’re going to reject the mate bond,” “That would never happen.” And I meant every bit of it. Alpha Leo’s face blanched. “Need I remind you, I’m still the Alpha King of Aragon,” “Alpha Prince Adrian Navarro, next in line to become the Alpha King,” I raised my hands midair, waving the crested ring on my pinky finger. “I have as much authority, especially now that I have my mate,” Silence filled the chamber. “Prince Adrian, your father’s right,” Jacob cleared his throat. “She’s the daughter of a traitor—” I cut in. “And my mate, which makes her untouchable,” The Aragon pack was as brutal as they were powerful. They didn’t spare anyone they perceived as a threat. Being the daughter of the pack’s former Beta had put her up as a target for these jerks. Even worse, she was human. I pulled her in. “We both had a pretty long flight, and we need to rest,” I reached for her chin, and an electric buzz splintered in my skin. “Right Princess…” Her lips trembled, “Ye-yes…” Something clattered to the ground. I pulled away from her gently, and picked the ID. Sloane Carrington. Sloane. It was the perfect name for my mate. “See you at dinner, Alpha,” I said, my hands still snaking around her waist, as I led her out of the chambers. Sloane pulled away from me, the instant we stepped into my suite. Her face bright pink, she sloushed down on one of the chairs, clutching her hands against herself. “What do you mean I’m your mate?” I dipped my hands into my pocket. “And this is the thank you I get for saving your life?” I asked. Fern grinded his fangs, as he took her in. ‘Don’t be too firm on her,’ Being in the same room as his fated mate was something he craved for all his life. She was only a few feet away from him, and he wanted to quench the hunger he’d kept to himself all this time. I cleared my throat. “Is this the Thank you I get for saving you from those men?” I struggled to keep the sarcasm off my voice. She tilted her head to face me, and something snapped. Her face was pale, with dark circles around her eyes, like she’d been crying. Nicolas please. Nicolas don’t do this. Her voice echoed in my head all through the flight. My best bet was a bad breakup. Did she have any idea how much I paid my gamma staff to search the entire New York for her. I searched her eyes for the slightest sign that she’d caught the mate bond, but she seemed clueless. Fern reared his head. ‘She wouldn’t even recognize the emotion if any,’ I sighed. “My father is innocent,” She blurted, I know. “There’s no concrete evidence to prove that,” Sloane ran those delicate hands through her black mane, and something hardened between my thighs. “I know an innocent person when I see one,” Sloane muttered. “Looks can be deceiving,” Another round of silence stretched through the atmosphere. “I need to save my father,” She paused, her gaze hovering all over my body. “I have a proposal for you,” Blood roared at the back of my ears. “Be my Luna for Christmas, and I’ll help you get your father out,” The colour drained from her face. “Wh-Wh—” “Don’t worry, you’re not my type,” I chipped. “It’s just for the holidays, thereafter I’ll help you win this case,” A speculative gleam touched her eyes. “And, how’re you going to do that?” I’m Adrian f*****g Navarro. MD Navarro Legal group. We had our stronghold both in New York as the largest law firm, and in Spain. It was a family conglomerate. But I established it in New York. I had a good number of lawyers who represented the firm in my total absence. Perhaps, it was time to put my little skills to good use. What’s the fun of the holidays, if I don’t play around in the courtroom? “Let that be my headache,” “Is this some sort of payback for what I did to you during the flight?” I was on the brink of bursting into a round of laughter. “I think you should spend your time writing down your Christmas wishlist, it’s in two weeks,” Matter of fact, I found her little squeal exciting. My mind rushed back to the exhilaration that sang through my veins. “Never done that before,” That’s weird. A tiny spark lit her eyes, when she stared back at me. “What did you wish for?” To find my mate. “None of your business,” I cleared my throat, “Are you taking the offer, or would you rather I send you back to the council of elders?” Sloane sighed. “I’ll be your contract Luna for Christmas,” her tone was a bit shaky. My lips tipped in a smirk. Exactly what I thought.
