Kabanata 6: Kompetisyon.

While at the Jose General Hospital...

Julius and Allan met in the hospital..

"So, ikaw pala ang bagong general surgeon dito sa hospital. Balita ko hindi ka lang magaling dito sa pilipinas, maging sa hospital sa amerika kilalang kilala ka.Kung gayon mukhang magaling ka talaga. Ako pala si Allan Illagan isa akong GS". Doctor Allan said to Julius.

"Hindi ko alam na ang ospital na ito ay ospital ng mga doctor na madaldal". Julius said.

"Ano? Ano sabi mo? Aba kinokomplement na nga kita ayaw mo? Ibang klase ka rin doc!!". Allan greedy said.

"Wala ako panahon na makipag-usap sa inyo kaya mauna muna ako. Magrarounds muna ako". He left then Allan blocked him.

"Sandali, Alam mo kung ganyan ka, talagang walang tao ang makakagusto sa iyo kahit makipagkaibigan sa iyo kung gusto mo". Allan said.

"Hayyy, kung ganyan ang paniniwala niyo!! Kawawa kayo at ang hospital. Dahil may mga doctor na inuuna ang chismisan kaysa iligtas at alamin ang kalagayan ng mga pasyente. Aalis na ako". He said and he left.

"Ano sabi ko sa iyo wala nga siya pakialam". Doctor said to Allan.

Meanwhile at the corridors.

"Chief Doc. Ano sa palagay mo sa bagong doctor?". Senior Doctor said to Chief Doctor Angelo.

"Mukhang magaling siya at mabait na doctor. Maraming ayaw sa kanya dahil sa pagiging tahimik at redikuloso niya". Angelo said to Senior Doctor.

"Mayabang kamo". Senior Doctor said.

"Sa ngayon hindi nyo pa nakikita dahil sa inis nyo sa kanya pero tinitiyak ko na may lugar ang pagiging mayabang niya. Naalala niyo ba noon na ganyan ako dati". Doctor Angelo said.

"Magkaiba naman kayo. Marunong ka naman makisama siya hindi". He said to Angelo.

"Basta". Angelo said to him.

Meanwhile..... in the E.R.

"Ano po ba nararamdan nyo po sir". Doctor Alex asked to the patient.

"Masakit po ang sikmura ko at nabubuwal ako. Masakit din ang dibdib ko parang inaatake". Patient replied at her.

She checked the stomach and the patient felt ached. She saw the patient burping. She thought about the disease.

"Sir, lagi ka bang nalilipasan ng gutom? Baka po may

Gastric ulcer kasi po ang sintomas ng Gastric Ulcer ay p*******t ng sikmura, nasusuka, p*******t ng tiyan, natitighay at heart burn. Bumababa po ba ang timbang nyo noong nakaraang araw o linggo?". She asked to the patient.

"Opo doc, tama po kayo bumababa ang timbang ko nitong nakaraang araw at lagi ako nagnalilipasan ng gutom. Ano po ba gagawin ko doc.?". Patient replied.

"Cge po oobserbahan ko nalang po kayo sir sa ngayon po magtatanghalian na kaya ipaghainan ko muna kayo ng makakain nyo maliwanag?". She asked.

"Kaso po doc wala po ako pambili". Patient said.

"Wag ho kayo mag-alala. Libre ko na ho kayo". Alex said.

"Salamat po doc". Patient said.

Until the nurse asked..

"Doctor Alex may darating po na critical patient at galing siya sa road accident. Darating siya in 5 minutes". Doctor Alex agreed.

"Sige ihanda nyo na ang oxygen pati stethoscope, cardiac monitor at ECG monitor maliwanag?". Nurse agreed.

While preparing equipment the critical patient is arriving.

"Vital signs?" Doctor Alex asked.

" 60 over 70 hindi maganda ang BP niya at hindi rin po ito stable. Ano po doc magpapatawag na po ako ng GS". Nurse replied then asked to her.

"Mukhang kailangan kasi sa tsansa ko nagkaroon siya ng internal bleeding sa aksidente. Pakitawag si Doctor Allan o si Doctor Julius kahit mga senior doctors o kahit sino. Magmadali kana". She said and nurses agreed before left.

"Ano nagkaroon ng bleeding? Sige papunta na ako diyan". Julius replied from the nurse said and Doctor Allan agreed too.

"Nandito na ako ano ang meron". Julius asked.

"Ano meron sa kanya at vital signs?". Allan asked.

"Ahhh, medyo bumaba na 60 over 75 at hindi stable ang kanyang kalagayan sa tantsa ko baka may internal bleeding siya". Doctor Alex told.

"Sige ako na bahala". Julius and Allan speak together.

They observed the patient’s condition and they both found out.

"May pancreatic injury ang pasyente". They speak together. they stared at each other

"Mukhang yun nga sa tingin ko ano hinihintay niyo kailangan nya ng surgery". Alex asked of them.

Doctor Angelo arrive. And informed the situation.

"Kung gayon, kailangan nya agad maiperform ng surgery.Ang tanong ko sino na nagagawa ng pancreaticoduodenectomy?". Doctor Angelo asked.

"Ako po!!". Julius and Allan speak together.

"Ilan beses na ba?". Angelo asked.

"dalawang beses na ako nakaassist" Allan replied.

"Ako tatlong beses at dalawa doon ay ako ang naging surgeon". Julius replied too. Allan stared at him.

"Mabuti!, kung gayon ikaw ang bahala sa surgery at ikaw naman Doctor Allan ikaw ang assistan niya maliwanag?". Angelo asked and both of them agreed.

"Ano sa tingin mo ang nangyayari?". Nurse asked to other nurse.

"Sa tingin ko nagkokompentensiya silang dalawa. Sa tingin ko nga naka one point na si Doctor Julius at si Doctor Allan nayayabangan naman kay Doctor Julius". Nurse replied to the nurse.

Doctor Alex heard what the two nurses were talking about so he looked at the two doctors.

"Ano ba nangyayari dito". Doctor Alex asked to herself.

Terminology...

GS (General Surgeon).

-are doctors who specialize in surgical procedures.

E.R. (Emergency Room).

-the department of a hospital that provides immediate treatment for acute illnesses and trauma.

Gastric Ulcer .

-A hole in the lining of the stomach corroded by the acidic digestive juices which are secreted by the stomach cells.

Cardiac Monitor.

-is a device that you control to record the electrical activity of your heart (ECG).

ECG (Electrocardiogram) Monitor.

-records the electrical signal from your heart to check for different heart conditions.

pancreaticoduodenectomy.

-also known as a Whipple procedure, is a major surgical operation most often performed to remove cancerous tumours off the head of the pancreas.
