Ellie's POV
Five days.
Five days. Calvin and his mistress have been traveling through Spain and Milan for what he called "business."
I, on the other hand, was grateful to Kylie. She didn't disappoint, sending me videos, picture messages, and texts of her intimate moments with my soon-to-be ex-husband.
I had more than enough evidence to ensure a quick divorce.
As for my dealings with his company? I was holding off on that termination until he signed those papers.
I sat in my living room, sipping my morning coffee with my friends Shannon and Aria, when someone knocked loudly on my front door, repeatedly knocking and ringing the doorbell.
Aria chuckled as she kept sketching on her tablet for our upcoming clothing line.
"Gee, I wonder who that is?" she asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Eliana, open the damn door! Did you think I wouldn't find out where you've been? I've been gone on business for four days, and I come back to this? Divorce? Give me a break, Eliana! This is low even for you!" Calvin yelled from the other side of the door, making me smirk.
"Girl, can you wait in my office while I handle these two idiots?" I said, noticing the security footage on my phone, feeling smug as I saw a pissed-off Calvin and an annoyed Kylie standing outside.
It looked like they landed here right after coming in.
Kylie was carrying a small suitcase and wearing a sun hat, a maxi dress, and sandals.
Calvin wore a long-sleeve white shirt with three top buttons undone, revealing his torso, paired with casual dress pants and light brown boat shoes.
Calvin clenched his left fist, ready to knock again while holding the divorce papers in his right hand, puffing his cheeks in frustration and sighing heavily.
"He looks angry, amiga," Shannon said, a triumphant smile on her face.
"Good! He finally gets a little taste of what I've been feeling all along." I said, crossing my right leg over my left.
"We'll be in your office. Call if you need us. I'd love to punch his teeth out." Aria said, winking at me as they both got up and headed toward my office.
I chuckled softly, taking another sip of my coffee as I nodded at Eleanor to open the door, grabbed the magazine in front of me, and started flipping through the pages.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Franco," Eleanor greeted him as Calvin stormed in.
"Eliana, what is this? Whose house is this, and what the hell are you doing here? Are you seriously cheating on me? Huh? Is this why you're here? Your new gigolo's house? What the f**k, Eliana? Are you seriously not done throwing a tantrum? I left for four days so you could cool down and—"
"Five," I said calmly, making him furrow his brows.
"What?"
"Five days. You've been gone five days, not four," I replied coolly, not bothering to look at him as I turned the page.
"Eliana, your behavior towards Mr. Franco is unfair. He and I were just traveling for work—nothing else. You've misunderstood our relationship. We're innocent, yet you've only upset him. You don't see how hard Mr. Franco works to provide you with a luxurious life. If I were in your place, I would appreciate him as my husband, cherish him, and—" she said, attempting to portray me as the bad guy.
But I was done with this charade. I will not be made a fool and will not look the other way like all the other wives in his circle.
I opened my phone and played a video his dear mistress had sent me of her ugly moaning while f*****g my husband, setting it in front of them on top of my coffee table.
I went back to my magazine and sipped my coffee, but I could see the color drain from both Calvin and Kylie's faces.
She really thought I would never dare use them against her. She was sure I would be embarrassed enough to leave and say nothing quietly.
"Baby... no, I can explain! That... that's fake. Someone must have fabricated that video. I would never cheat on you, especially with one of my employees."
"Save it, Calvin. I have plenty of these videos and pictures as evidence."
"Who? Who sent it to you? I swear I will end them. They are false, Ellie, I swear!" he continued, making me roll my eyes and grunt softly.
"Uggh, save it, Cal! I'm not interested in your sorry excuses; you think I didn't know? You and Miss Sinclair have been seeing each other behind my back for the last six months. And that child," I said, as I felt a tear betray me, rolling down my cheek.
"Did you really think I was that stupid? I know that child in her stomach is yours, Calvin. So do us both a favor... stop this farce. Sign the damn papers, and get the hell out of my life for good, Calvin!" I said, feeling my body tremble with anger, hands fisting tightly around the magazine as I leaned forward.
He was ugly crying, but stopped the moment I told him I knew about the child.
This man in front of me... the one I thought I was going to grow old with, the one I thought I loved and loved me back... turned out to be a complete imbecile—a lying, cheating scumbag. And I wanted nothing to do with him.
I clenched his jaw, looking at me with a condescending smirk while he wiped his tears.
"Fine. So what?" he said, shrugging his right shoulder.
"You know damn well that every one of my colleagues has had a mistress on the side. How bad could that be? Are you really willing to end things over this? So Kylie is pregnant with my child; you can raise it as our own. You won't have to have kids; you can continue to stay at home and take care of the kids and me, all while still indulging in a life full of monetary freedom."
"You're an asshole, you know that?" I said as I took the divorce papers out and tossed them in front of him.
Kylie whispered in his ear, making his lip tug into a smirk before he lifted his chin and cleared his throat.
"You're right, Kylie. She won't dare to leave me. She has no one other than me," he says, fixing his left sleeve.
"You'll regret this, Eliana. You have nowhere to go. Whoever the friend is who's letting you crash here will, sooner or later, get fed up of you being here. You'll have no other choice but to crawl back to me or go back to your f*****g countryside hellhole," he says as he grabs the pen inside his pocket and signs, tossing the pen on top of the papers and sliding them toward me.
I glance through my magazine, not caring to lift my head as I sit quietly.
“Sign the divorce, Eliana, and I'll add two zeros to the settlement check,” he says with a smug look, but I didn’t care to look up. I simply turned the page and smiled when I saw the advertisement for our new sports apparel.
“Just don’t regret it when you run out of money and try to run back to me, begging to take you back,” he says as he wraps a hand over Kylie and presses a kiss on her neck.
Kylie looks at me with a triumphant smile, as if she’s already won. But oh honey… both of you are in for the biggest surprise of your f*****g life.
I sigh, placing the magazine down and grabbing the pen.
I sign the divorce papers, making Calvin’s eyes bulge in shock.
“She… she signed the divorce?” He whispers, looking at Kylie with worry.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure she’s just pretending. She wouldn’t dare file those fake papers. She loves you too much, Calvin,” she whispers, trying to convince him, but smiling at me, knowing damn well she finally had her chance to take my place as the new Mrs. Franco.
“I signed. Now, if you two will excuse me, I have things to do. Get out.” I say as I signal my bodyguard to get them out of my sight, making him angrier.
“Don’t overstep, Eliana! Know your place. You are nothing without me. You were penniless before, and you will soon end with nothing again. I’ll be waiting for the day you crawl back to my feet,” he says. My bodyguard grunts softly, making Calvin flinch.
“Calvin, maybe it’s best we leave. We’re both still jetlagged, and te baby is restless right now. I want to lie down for a while. Can we please… go home?” Kylie says, giving him an innocent stare.
I rolled my eyes, taking one last sip of my coffee.
They finally leave, slamming the door behind them.
My eyes watered, shedding tears I had been holding in.
“Ma’am… are you alright?” my bodyguard asks, making me nod as I look away.
“I’m fine, Russell. Thank you.” I say as I wipe my tears.
I should be glad it’s finally over, right?
But I don't. I feel horrible; I feel defeated. I feel… empty.
