Ellie's POV
I stumbled my way inside my home.
The double doors seemed heavier tonight. Or perhaps it's just that I am far too tired, too drunk, and feeling my body heavy from the long night of drinking.
I grunted, as I leaned closer against the door and pushed it open.
One of the younger house maids, Daniela, rushed over, holding my hand as she saw me dragging my feet inside.
"My lady. You're finally home." She says as she helps me to the couch, and takes my purse, placing it on the coffee table next to the sofa.
"Daniela, my feet are aching. I think I drank a little too much." I said as I slumped my body, closing my eyes as I grabbed one of the small pillows and placed it under my head.
Daniela chuckles, grabbing one of the fleece throws, placing it over me, and sighing.
"I'm just glad you're home safe, ma'am. By the way-" she says, changing her tone to a bit of concern as she looks towards the stairs.
"Ma'am... is... everything alright between you and... Mr. Calvin?" she asks, making me narrow my brows and look at her in confusion.
No one knew there was trouble between Calvin and me. No one.
So why the sudden question?
"What do you mean?"
"Ma'am... Mr. Calvin-" she says as she looks toward the stairs again, biting the side of her bottom lip, contemplating her choice of words.
"Spit it out, Dannie. What about my husband?" I asked, sitting upright and forgetting that I was drunk... or... hungover.
"He came home last night really mad. He was throwing things inside his office and yelling over the phone. That's why I was wondering if everything was okay. I didn't want to meddle in before, but... I've... I've found things in his clothes when washing his garments. His shirts... they don't smell like your perfume. And then, around midnight, he left, didn't come back until after two in the morning. I thought he came home with you. But-" she says, closing her eyes and fisting her hands.
I stood up abruptly, my blood boiling in anger, my heart dropping.
"What?" I asked, anger and frustration filled me.
Did that son of a b***h really dare bring that homewrecker into my house? The f**k he will!
I'll kill him. Kill them both, chop his damn manhood off!
It's bad enough he's banging her behind my back knowing damn well we are still married, but now he dares bring her into our house?
"Where is he? Where did he take her?" I asked, making my way to the stairs.
For the first time, the thirty-two-step stairwell felt endless... longer, steeper.
"Madame, please stay calm. Don't... don't do anything too irrational, please! Stay calm."
"Calm? Stay calm?" I began... but then I remembered my plan.
If I wanted to divorce Calvin, and get rid of him for good, get him and his stupid sidepiece out of my life for good... I needed evidence. The more- the better.
I gripped the handrail tightly, feeling rage inside and taking a deep breath as I felt tears threatening to fall.
"No. You're right. You're right. I need to stay calm." I said, wiping my tears away, and turned back toward Daniela.
"Who else knows she's here? Did Josie see her?" I asked Daniela, as I began to walk back down the steps.
Josephine, or Josie as I call her was the head housekeeper. But she was also Calvin's nanny since he was a kid, and his grandma's most trusted person.
If Josie found out that Kiley was here, it meant his grandma would find out he was cheating on me, making him lose his rights to her company.
He was the shareholder of twenty percent of the Calvin Group, and had been gaining lots of funds without lifting a finger.
Before we got married, his grandma wanted him to prove his worth, so he had no access to any of the money and had to work his way to pay for his school and personal expenses.
After graduation, we were married, and it wasn't until he had already started the modeling agency that I helped fund that she finally allowed him to start receiving profit from their company.
I wonder what his grandma would think if she found out about his affair?
If I remember one thing she said in our wedding was that she wanted to know if he ever wronged me.
"I know my grandson better than anyone else, sweetie. I love him, but he can make drastic decisions at times. If he ever mistreats you, or does you wrong, you must tell me at once. I will handle him. You are my granddaughter now, so I must be sure we treat you well." I remember she said as she took my hand in hers, smiling at me, and kissed my forehead, giving us her blessings.
"I will. But I trust, Calvin. I know he loves me and would never do anything to betray our bond." I had replied, feeling the irony of it all at this very moment.
"Get my bag, and bring my phone, don't wake anyone up just yet," I said, as I looked toward my bedroom.
"Madame Franco, what are you planning?"
"Nothing. I'm not going to do a damn thing." I said, making her eyes widen.
"I'll let his grandma do the work for me," I said as I crossed my hand over my chest and smirked.
Daniela quickly returned with my phone.
I placed a finger over my lips to gesture for her to stay quiet the second we came to the doors of my bedroom.
Daniela nodded, feeling our hearts scared and enraged out of chest.
I sent a quick text to Shannon, letting her know what was happening. I knew she wouldn't answer right away because she most likely was just getting home and tired as I did just minutes ago.
Then I pressed record, opened the doors slowly, cautiously to make no sound.
"GO back to sleep, I'll handle the rest," I told Daniela.
"Be careful, ma'am. I'll be awake to make sure I'm ready to come help if you need it."
"No need. Go get some rest. Just... make sure Josie prepares breakfast an hour early today. I have a feeling your master is going to need nourishment before he heads out for work." I said, the wheels in my head were already turning.
I proceeded to go inside, pointing the camera directly at my cheating husband in bed with his mistress.
True, they were both fully dressed, and Calvin even had his shoes on, but they were sleeping in my bed nonetheless.
And to me... that was good enough to make his grandma go nuts.
I just had to wait for Shannon to finish drafting my divorce papers and then.... I can get the hell out of here.
Yet... the closer I got, and saw them lying on my bed... the bed he and I shared. All the nights we spent declaring our love, passionately, intimately...
The way he held her so dearly hurt.
I felt a knot build in my throat, my tears falling as I recorded them.
I brought my hand to my mouth to muffle my cry.
Kiley stirred, making me put my phone down quickly as I ducked down.
She moaned in her sleep softly, making Calvin move.
He brought his hand to her head, caressing her while still sleeping, and then hugged her tightly.
Seeing them being so affectionate, even in their sleep felt heavier than a blunt to my chest. My heart ached, and I couldn't take it anymore.
I hurried out of that room and made my way down the stairs and out of the house, feeling my heart's palpitation go out of control.
I'm trying... trying my hardest to hate him and feel nothing but how?
He was my husband... the man I truly thought loved me back.
I shut the door behind me and decided to leave, maybe I should just rent a hotel room for the night. I shouldn't have come back.
But then I saw it... Brooks was parked outside my house, and his car was outside the gates.
He had come back, why?
His tall lean body rested against his car, his hand slowly lifted as he took a long inhale of a cigarette.
I ran toward him and the moment he saw me, he threw it away, taking long steps toward me.
"Short stack... what's-" he said as I launched myself in his arms, wrapping my hands around his neck, crying.
"Hey... hey, it's ok... I'm here," he says as he hugs me tightly.
