Eliana's POV
Calvin closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose as he took a long, dragged breath.
"Baby... I know I've given you spending freedom... But you just changed your wardrobe a month ago. Don't you think that's a bit excessive?" Calvin adds, making me roll my eyes as I take a forkful of food to my mouth.
As if!
I have spent my hard-earned money on my clothes for the last two years without spending a single dime of his because I wanted to ease his load.
Yet he thinks I am just 'spending' his money?
Buddy- every damn piece of your clothes was bought by me!
I rolled my eyes as I continued to munch on my food, stabbing the pancake that Jocie had just set before me, dunking it into the warm and gooey cream cheese icing she placed next to me, and bringing it to my mouth.
I moaned in delight, savoring it as I chewed that sucker.
"It's outdated. I have no use for those clothes if I can't wear them. Do you want the other wives in your circle to think I have a cheapskate for a husband?" I said, making him pause.
"Baby!" I said, feeling a vile rise in me after calling him that!
"What will those stuck-up bitches think if they see me wearing last season's couture? Surely you don't want them talking... do you?" I said as I stuffed another forkful of pancake into my mouth.
Truthfully, I had never cared about titles, brands, or materials, but I wanted him to think I did. And I especially want him to have a nice fall on his money so after this... I was really going to go shopping.
That's what his sister saw in me anyway; Eliana the gold-digging biatch!
I might as well play the part for once.
"Well no... I just think there are more important things you could spend money on. I don't know... a car maybe."
"I already have a car, Cal."
"Ok, what about... jewelry? Invest in real estate, or buy some stocks, I don't know!"
I rolled my eyes, bulging my eyes as I looked at my plate.
If only he knew my net worth was far superior to his!
His entire family's net worth was less than 30% of mine.
"Yeah... maybe you're right. But for now, all that is going to charity. I already signed the paperwork for it, darling; there's no going back!" I said, making a mental note to sign that divorce paper as soon as possible.
"Alright, sweetheart. You're a smart girl; I know you'll make good choices," he said as he placed his hand on the side of my head, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.
"I always do!" I said, smiling.
He looked at his phone, reading whatever was on his screen, and scratched the back of his neck.
He paused for a few seconds as I continued to eat, taking a sip from my orange juice.
"Listen, Elie... I have to leave for a client meeting. And Mom just texted; she won't be able to come by today. I'll tell you what, why don't you put everything you spend today on my card, ok? My treat. It's the least I can do for my perfect wife," he says, handing me his personal card, placing it in front of my plate.
"Sure!" I said, shrugging my shoulders as I placed my glass down.
"Thanks, honey," I said, giving him a faint smile.
"I won't be back tonight, so make sure not to make dinner for me, ok? I love you, sweetheart," he said, placing a kiss on my lips and sprinting upstairs.
I fake a smile, making a gagging face as he looks away, causing Daniela to snicker.
My phone notified me of an incoming text, so I grabbed it off the counter, unlocked it, and opened the notification.
It was a text from Kylie, making me scoff.
"Calvin said he'd buy me an even prettier bracelet than this. We're going to my prenatal checkup this morning to see the gender of our baby," she wrote, making me clench my jaw, fisting the phone tightly.
“After that we’re going shopping, and he’s going to spend all weekend with me to make up for your stupid insult. Be glad I didn't force him to make you kneel and apologize to me. He will do anything and everything I so damn well please,” she wrote, making my blood boil.
I wanted so badly to throw the phone at Calvin's head, but I held it in, taking a deep breath and giving Eleanor a signal to approach me as she came with a laundry basket, holding Kylie's clothes.
“Cool. Have fun.” I wrote back, stabbing my phone with my fingers as if it would make things better. It didn't… but it felt good.
I showed Eleanor the picture of Kylie wearing my Pandora bracelet: "Disinfect every piece of jewelry her filthy hands touched and donate them to the women’s shelter. All the clothes her hands touched, throw them away, and everything she touched as well, or… better yet, sell them and donate the money to the elementary school closer to the shelter." I said, making her nod in agreement.
"Yes, ma'am," she said as she walked toward the stairs.
"Oh, and... make sure to give Dana the list of Calvin's suits we purchased over the last two years; I need to make sure I get my money back for those. I'm going to launch a new line for baby clothes, so I'll definitely put better use to that money." I said, making her turn as she chuckled.
"Yes, ma'am," she replied, sighing with a smile on her face.
The bell rang, and Daniela quickly went to open the door.
"Good morning. We're here from the movers."
"Right this way, please." Daniela walked them in.
"Everything goes to this address. Make sure you are extra careful with these boxes; they are very fragile." Daniela instructed them, and they nodded as they began moving boxes out.
I went on my phone and quickly dialed my assistant, Dana. She picked up almost immediately.
"Good morning, boss."
"Dana, I need the footage from my room last night; send it to-"
"Already did, boss," she says, bringing a smile to my face.
"Good. Tell everyone I won't be coming in today; I'm going shopping for new furniture."
"But... Boss... we have the new applicants coming in today. Don't you want to be there?" she asks, making me grunt.
"I'll be there in the afternoon if I can. I trust you can handle things while I'm gone?"
"Of course. By the way, are you sure you want to cancel the meeting with Mr. Franco's modeling agency? Some of his models are looking forward to working with us. I thought you finally wanted to sign with his agency?"
"No. I changed my mind. He has enough collaborators. We'll go for someone else. Maybe someone already working with us, one of the influencers or... someone new, even." I said, feeling bewildered.
"Alright, boss... Have fun shopping," she said with a slight chuckle.
I was launching a new sports line soon and wanted to contract a new model and give it a new face, more diverse and inclusive.
My idea was to use one of Calvin's models, but with everything happening, the last thing I want is to give him more of my damn money.
If he thinks I'm spending money, I'll definitely make good use of his card this time. As for our collaboration, I will no longer be there to lend him a hand.
