Ellie's POV
I kept eating quietly, sulking in the bitter taste of Calvin's betrayal. Yet I couldn't find myself with the desire to keep, withstanding, or crying for him.
No more. I'm done. He and Kylie can kiss my ass and rot.
Knowing my husband was up there, helping his mistress get ready to leave my damn house, was making me itch.
I had an uncontrollable urge to walk up those stairs, into my room, pull her out by the hair, and drag her out of my house. Then I'd turn and drag Calvin out of the same way, beat him to a pulp, and make them regret tangling behind my back.
Itching with the desire to run up there, yank her damn hair out, and drag them both out of my damn house.
But I sucked it up. Sucked it up because as they say... last one to smile, smiles best.
My phone rang, alerting me that a deliveryman was at my door.
"Hey, Daniela, could you get the door, please? There's a package for me waiting right outside." I asked my youngest housemaid, looking at her through unshed tears.
"Of course, madame. I'll be right back," she said with a sweet and gentle voice as she and the other girls exchanged concerned looks.
She returned quickly, sprinting back and placing the envelope right in front of me.
"Ma'am, here you go." She says, looking at the black envelope with curiosity.
I opened it, and felt my stomach flutter as I read the big, bright, bold letters, 'Divorce Agreement'
Daniela gasped, covering her mouth and looking at me wide-eyed.
"Madame... you're really divorcing Mr. Franco? But-"
"You saw it with your very own eyes, Dannie. Mr. Franco is cheating on me with that woman, and I am not going to stick around like an i***t to get mocked by some b***h who's trying to wreck my home. She can have Calvin, it's obvious he wants to be with her, or he wouldn't have dared bringing her into our home."
"But... ma'am. maybe what he said was true... maybe he really was concerned and was out there looking for you."
Dannie, I have left countless times without a word to him when I go on last-minute trips. It isn't until I arrive at my destination that I call him to let him know I've arrived. Why? Because I thought I could trust him. I did trust him... I know we both are busy people, but he never dared to do something so low as cheating on me. He's been surrounded by beautiful women since the day I met him, yet he's always been faithful. I tried looking the other way, saw the signs, the red flags... little by little, he became more reckless, more daring with his cheating, and I looked the other way every time because I loved him, or at least... I thought it was love, but... I'm done this time, Dannie. I am finished believing in him."
I wiped my tears and sighed.
Josie pressed her hands on my shoulders as she stood beside me. "My dear... Calvin is nothing but a blind fool; he has no idea what he's losing. You are a smart, beautiful, and admirable young woman. I just wish I could do something about that wench," she says, looking toward the staircase with a scold.
"Karma is just, Josie. I don't care if he ever does realize who I was or what I meant to him. As soon as he signs these papers, it's over between him and me." I tilted my chin with assertiveness.
"By the way, don't bother preparing lunch today. Elenore will drive all of you to my villa at the end of the city. That will be your new home. As of today, you will no longer work or be associated with the Francos; you will work for me and me only. I mean... if you're willing to follow, that is." I said, looking at them with sincerity.
They exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. "Of course, we will, madame. We'd be crazy not to follow you. You are the best boss we have ever had." Daniela says, making me smile.
"Yeah, boss, we'll leave and work for you. No way we'll stay here and serve that homewrecker girl," another of the girls says, followed by the rest.
"Oh, hush. All of you. Ellie... don't you think you're acting rather irrationally? I think it would be best if you waited a little. This is your home after all. The house was gifted to you by the Calvin Group."
Yes, the company was named Calvin because its founder, Calvin's great-great-grandfather, was named Calvin. Calvin was named after him, taking the same name as the company.
"Knock knock!" I heard a cheerful voice from the door, making me turn.
At the door stood Sarah, Calvin's mom, and by her stood Mercedes, Calvin's sister, and her husband. Behind them stood a handmaid who carried the baby inside a baby portal and all their bags.
"Wait... didn't that i***t just say his mom wasn't coming over today? He lied to me... asshole." I thought to myself, and I fisted my hands slightly, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath before taking a step forward.
