Something Feels Off

Calvin's office was always his private sanctuary. He knew perfectly well that no one was allowed to enter without his permission. No one... not even his personal assistant. Not even I dared interrupt him in the past. Even though he had to me in the past that I never had to check in with the reception, to come and go as I pleased... not once had I dared barge into his office like she had today. But I was glad he had taken the initiative to give it to her. And I was glad she had gotten comfortable enough to blow his d**k today, while knowing there were people outside his office. I was even more glad she had left his door ajar, giving me the perfect evidence of his affair. Whether she did it out of lust, for the thrill, or to purposely provoke me. It didn't matter, because this was giving me evidence, leverage to make our divorce a faster process. "Thank you, Calvin. This is my new ticket for my divorce, and final departure from you." I said as I smirked. I glanced at an incoming notification from a group chat Calvin had added me to a while ago, before Kylie was in the picture. He had probably forgotten about it; he had added me because he wanted me to socialize with his friends and new colleagues from businesses he was a partners with. The notification was from Kylie. She had sent intimate pictures of herself and Calvin in her dressing room. "What a convenience. She's on the ground chat too. And oh, look... all your buddies are aware of her existence." I said, raising a brow. Calvin had his hands wrapped possessively around Kylie's waist, his head tilted as he kissed her on her neck. You couldn't see his face, because her head was on the way, but I could tell it was him. His posture, his body, and the Rolex watch I had gifted him last Valentine's Day. I could spot Calvin in a crowded room anywhere, any day. Kylie smiled, her eyes closed, as she comfortably rested her hands on his chest. I took a screenshot of their pictures and sent them to Shannon, adding to our file of evidence. He had given Kylie full access to come and go and do as she pleased without weighing the consequences. At first, they were secretive, hiding their affair from everyone at the office, but now... it seems everyone was aware of them. Everyone, including his family. And they all thought I didn't know. Except Kylie of course. Because she had personally sent me countless pictures and videos, acting out of jealousy in attempts to separate us. While he thought I would never catch him, he was in there, screwing his w***e freely without a care in the world. Even after everything his friends had told him in the past. He was still carelessly fooling around with her, allowing himself to fall into temptation. And getting her pregnant. What a fool I was to think he was a devoted and faithful husband. I scrolled down, seeing many of his colleagues commenting, praising him for how good they looked together The same slyballs of men in his professional circle. The same men whom I hated seeing at our parties, because, by the way, had the same lying, cheating, and Neanderthalogical mentality as he did, who kept mistresses on the side. "Calvin, you're the man!" "You two make a perfect couple." "Look at these two love birds? Always showing affection." Another commented, making me roll my eyes. One comment after another, praised his affair. But then my eyes averted to another comment from Shane. Shane was new to business. He was young but had amazing business skills. At just twenty-three years old he had started his business from nothing. And in just two years after a long and hard battle, he made his business boom. But, Shane was looked at with indifference and disdain by Calvin and his business buddies for having 'too high standards'. They looked down on him for wanting to do things properly, no shortcuts or dirty tricks. "You two seriously need to be more careful. Eliana is going to find out about you two, sooner or later." I read in the comments. "Great, the goodie-two-shoes is here." Someone replied. "Shane, there's nothing wrong with having a little side adventure if you're a guy. It's natural. Men have needs." Someone else commented, making me close my eyes irritably. The only reason everyone kept him in their circle was because they knew he was efficient and not partnering with him would make their business stumble, maybe even make their profits halt. "Eliana is a good woman, she doesn't deserve this, Calvin. " Shane replied. "I'm sorry, Mr. Amador. It was my fault. I guess I deserved this. Mr. Franco has been so good to me, please... don't misunderstand. We were just practicing for a photoshoot." Kylie replied, making me scuff. Was she really trying to play it off? It was more than evident. Their affair was in everyone's circle of gossip. I was kind of glad that I had my phone set to a special modification that didn't allow anyone to see that I was in there. Though I could see everything they were commenting on, they couldn't see that I was reading all of their private messages because my assistant had filtered the chat for me. My assistant Dana wasn't only good at her job. She was a cyber genius. And I didn't miss the fact that she had amazing abilities that overqualified her to be my secretary. Only she knew why she had decided to work for me instead of becoming rich and famous for her abilities. "Thank you, Dana," I whispered, recognizing my assistant's abilities. After my haircut and being left satisfied with the results, Maddie and I chatted for a long while. I had to make a special mental note to give Dana another raise in her salary. "I love it. Thank you, Maddie. You always know exactly what I want." I said, smiling as I admired my haircut. "You're very welcome. I always enjoy having my favorite customer stop by." She says, placing down the Keratin spray on the counter and smiling at me. "Rest assured, you have a forever loyal customer with me. I love how detailed you are with my hair. Thank you, Maddie. Let me go pay, I'll be sure to leave you a good tip for everyone working today," I said as I got up. "Oh, no, you don't. That haircut is on me." She says, sitting beside me and taking my hand in hers. "Dear... Shannon called me. She told me about your... divorce! Are you doing?" She whispered the divorce part, looking around to make sure people didn't eavesdrop. I chuckled, nodding my head. But let's be real... leaving him still left a grieving emptiness inside me. I was still shattered, even if I was determined not to let him get away with this. I sighed, looking down to my right as I reminisced on the good times Calvin and I had. "I'm doing rather good. I thought I'd be crying or sad, but, I guess I'm ok. I'll be ok." I said as my eyes watered a little, but I forced myself to smile and think positively. "Well, I'm glad you're getting rid of the garbage. It was about time you left that scumbag!" She says, placing her hand on her hip. I look up at her in surprise, my mouth partially agape. "Don't look at me so surprised. Calvin is a moron, sorry to say that. Only you couldn't see how wrong he was for you. You deserve better, sweetie. I mean it." She says, making my eyes teary. "Oh, no, you don't. Enough with the pity party. You'll ruin your makeup. You look absolutely beautiful. More radiant than ever." She says, making me chuckle through unshed tears. "Thanks, Maddie." "Calvin doesn't have a clue what he's losing by cheating on you. He'll regret it soon, Eliana. You are so much better than that... wannabe-model." She says rolling her eyes. I chuckled, standing up from my chair, "I'll get going. You should join us tonight. Maybe I can finally convince you to join my team at E.V.'s?" I asked hopefully, making her roll her eyes with a dismissive hand and laughter. "We'll just have to see bout that. Who knows... maybe, just maybe, you might convince me!" She says, playfully, making me chuckle. "Good. I promise I will take good care of you if you join my team." I hugged her tightly, thanking the gods for such a good friend in my life. I took off, went shopping on my own, and then had a great lunch in one of Brooks' chain restaurants, enjoying the solitude as I sorted a few emails on my device. By nightfall, Calvin hadn't even texted me. I did, however, receive numerous calls from his mom and sister, but they were all left unanswered. I had a voicemail box filled with messages from them, begging me to stop by and asking about my whereabouts. "Haah, as if. Do they seriously think you're that dumb not to figure out that Calvin was two-timing you?" Shannon rolls her eyes, crossing her legs and taking a swig of her beer as we sat in a private room in a local club.
