Chapter 10

2108 Words

CHAPTER 4 Time dragged until I couldn’t even remember the day of the week without turning on the television to see the shows on primetime. It took all my effort to get out of bed each morning. Being alone in a strange place on top of everything else just left me utterly miserable. Other than calling contractors and making arrangements for movers to take everything salvageable to a storage unit, my days were empty. My neighbor agreed to do what he could to push my repairs through faster, keeping in mind the time needed to fight other contractors for materials and available subcontractors. I told him not to prioritize me over the families in the area. Everyone needed to rebuild. Taking care of kids was difficult enough without having to live out of a suitcase. I’d be fine, here by myself.
