After the judge dismissed us for the weekend, I got a text from Sayid inviting me to his parents’ home in Connecticut to be reunited with his sister and meet her horses.
I thought maybe it would be good for you to get out into the fresh air for a bit. Take your mind off the trial.
He was right, of course. Meili told me before we left the courthouse not to spend the entire weekend on the couch, watching Legally Blonde or a Grisham movie marathon. Especially not Grisham—too many cases where the bad guys won. I’d been home from court for an hour and was already binge-watching Law & Order: SVU when the text rolled in. Still, I wasn’t sure what was happening with Sayid or if I was ready for it.
