“About time you showed up,” he drawled and his tone was surprisingly congenial. “Theodora said you were coming, but even I can’t make this baby wait.” He shook his head. “You nearly got left behind, kid.”
The train began to move, vibrating beneath Delilah’s feet in that very moment. He winked at her and she dared to hope.
“You’re Ted?”
He grinned, revealing that half of his teeth were capped in gold. “That’s me. Get naked and toss all that stuff out the door pronto. They’ll seal the locks by the time we leave the station, and you don’t want any identifying garments on you. You’re a worker that I picked up in New Portland if anyone asks. Got it?”
