Aliyah’s POV
“Ugh, unbelievable!”
I barged out of the room scrambling to put on the shirt.
I was not going to share a bed with that pervert!
The cabin had two other rooms in the hallway and I went to the room opposite Magnus's room and twisted the door knob, but to my unpleasant surprise, it was locked.
“What are you doing?” Magnus's voice suddenly snuck up behind me, making me jump.
“Getting away from you,” I grunted, still struggling with the door.
“Don't bother, the doors are all locked,” he said almost in a mocking tone.
I turned around to meet his gaze, boiling with rage.
“There are three rooms in this cabin, so why do we have to share a room?”
“Because these other rooms are off limits”
“Why?”
“That's none of your business.”
“I'm not sharing a room with you.”
“Would you rather sleep on the floor?” he said with a lifted brow.
“No”
“Then it's settled then,”
“I don't agree with this.”
“You don't have a choice, Aliyah.”
“You planned this all along, didn't you?”
“Of course, I planned for you to get involved in my life and steal from me,” he responded with his voice laced with sarcasm.
“You're unbelievable!”
“And you're being a brat.”
I opened my mouth to retaliate, but the sound of his phone ringing automatically put a pause to our banter as he excused himself to answer it.
Who was he always talking to?!
I scoffed, walking away to the balcony for some air as I took a deep breath, still trying to process it all.
The view
The cabin
Magnus
Somehow I felt my anger slipping as I beheld the transparent water.
“I'm going into the city, do you need anything?” Magnus's voice echoed from behind me.
“No”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, just go away.”
I could literally feel him rolling his eyes but I couldn't care less.
“I won't be gone for long. I've turned on the monitor, so I'll be aware if anything goes wrong.”
“So you're spying on me too?”
“I'm protecting you”
“More like being your prisoner.”
He didn't respond and walked down the hallway instead.
A different speed boat came in and just like that he was out of sight, and I was stuck here alone.
I felt the boredom creep in slowly, and I decided to explore the island.
I walked to the shore basking in the beauty of it. It was quite unlike the busy life I had been so used to.
It was peaceful and safe.
The water was clear, and I could taste the salt in the air.
A thought came to my mind.
“Why not embrace this?”
All my life I have struggled and fought for almost everything. I had faced so many hardships from the orphanage that I grew up in and even in my adulthood.
Nothing came to me easily.
But now everything could be better if I just accepted Magnus's offer.
This baby could really give me the life I wanted. The peace and happiness I've always dreamed of.
I could put up with him for just 365 days and have two million dollars all to myself.
Suddenly, a pang of guilt overpowered me.
I would have everything I wanted but at the expense of giving up my baby.
I shoved it down even as I caressed my little bump.
If this is what it takes, then I guess I'll just have to do it.
“I'm sorry baby, but this is what I have to do.”
I was going to sign the contract and endure it for a year.
I took a deep breath and hugged myself as I stepped back into the cabin.
I stepped into the room Magnus and I shared and found the documents placed neatly on the baby.
I picked it up and found that a pen was attached to it.
I went in and signed, hardly thinking and by the time I was done, my signature was already on the blank spots.
I'm officially his property.
But it won't be for long.
I spotted the speedboat coming closer, and I braced myself for the interaction we were about to have.
Alright Aliyah. Breathe.
He doesn't own you, no matter what is on that paper.
It wasn't until the smell of something cooking in the kitchen hit my nose that I left the room with the contract in hand.
“Here,” I said, placing it on the kitchen counter. “I've signed the contract.”
He looked at me amused.
“It's good to see that you're finally coming around. You've made the right choice”
“Spare me your congratulations.”
“Do you always have to be so difficult?”
“You make it so easy to be”
He rolled his eyes but I ignored it.
“ Here are my rules—”
“Rules?”
“Yes, rules,” I said, dropping a piece of paper on a list of my boundaries.
The rules were straight forward:
Rule number one; no walking in on each other when we are going in or out of the bathroom.
Rule number two: we were not a real couple, so no romance of any form of romance at all.
Rule number three: I was allowed to go wherever I wanted without his control.
“I can't agree to the third rule,” he said, snapping back into reality.
“And why not?”
“Because that would hinder me being able to protect you.”
“Fine then, you'll just have to come shopping with me tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
“Yes,” I said with absoluteness.
“With whose money?” he asked with knitted brows that almost made me laugh.
“The great CEO, Magnus Romano, of course,” I said, mimicking his deep voice.
“That's not funny”
“It definitely is, and you're obligated to make me happy as per the agreement binding our contract.”
His smile dropped with realization of what he had offered me.
And I was going to take full advantage of this.
“Fine” he agreed
“Wonderful”
The night came and the moment of truth came with it.
Sleeping on the same bed as the man I was pregnant with.
The room was unusually quiet, save for the ocean, and I could hear my heart beat racing.
The bed dipped as Magnus laid on it and the hair at the back of my neck suddenly stood.
I stayed perfectly still, hoping to just fall asleep faster, but the more I tried the wider my eyes became.
Suddenly he moved forward, and I could feel his hot breath on my neck.
“Good night,” he said in a humming tone.
“G—good night,” I struggled to respond.
He moved forward again, and I moved to the edge, and with every movement the more I moved closer to the edge until I felt myself slip.
I was so sure I would land on my face when Magnus's hand wrapped around my waist and pulled me to his chest.
“Where are you running to?”
My heart fluttered and my breathing hitched.
“You know I don't like it when you don't answer me,” he said.
“I… I was just looking for something?”
“On the floor?”
“Yes…”
“So you weren't trying to avoid my touch?” he said as his hand began to lightly brush on my nips.
“I…”
“You…”
“I have to go to the bathroom.”
