#musicvibe - Still falling for you, Ellie Goulding
*
Tyson POV
Mr Sampson chuckled.
“You will find that you have the most complicated mate on the planet, your Majesty.” He replied. “During the time Valeria spent with the masters, she was selected by the director of the project to be trained in s****l manipulation.
I frowned.
“Trained in what?” I asked.
“Basically a fancy word for molesting a child.” Mr Sampson muttered.
I felt my heart sink.
“Valeria only told her therapist, two years after we rescued her. She never says anything about it, but I know that she’s still struggling with that.”
“How can you tell?”
“For instance, she has never been even remotely close to having a boyfriend. There are some occasions in her work where she’s had to seduce people, but she always takes time to beat them up when she’s gotten what she wants.”
My eyes widened, feeling too stunned to speak.
Mr Sampson sighed.
“I know what will happen to you if Valeria refuses to accept you, so I know how important this is. But you have to tread carefully here, or you might make her an enemy instead.” He warned.
I nodded.
Somehow, I needed to gain her trust.
“How do you recommend that I approach her?” I asked. “I can only hold back for so long. The full moon is coming in a few days. I need her.”
Mr Sampson looked at me sadly.
“There are only a few people that Valeria trusts.” He replied. “That trust was built over a long period of time. I’m sorry, your Majesty, but I think you’ll have to spend the full moon without her.”
I sighed and thanked Mr Sampson for the meeting.
Kayden and Garrett met me outside the office.
“How did it go?” Kayden asked.
I rubbed my forehead tiredly.
“It’s worse than I thought.” I groaned. “I’m not sure how to approach her.”
“She’s your mate.” Garrett whispered. “She’ll come around.”
“Yeah, but when?” Kayden snapped. “Are we supposed to sit around and watch you suffer while waiting for a girl to make up her mind?”
I growled lowly at the disrespect.
“I’ll manage.” I snarled. “I’m an Alpha. I’ll be fine.”
I wasn’t sure if I said it to convince them or myself. Honestly, I wasn’t convinced that this would end well.
Kayden and Garrett didn’t really look convinced either.

Valeria POV
After I took a very long shower, I rummaged through the cabinets and found a bottle of red wine.
I silently thanked whatever God was up there and hoped that Aidan wouldn’t be too pissed that I took a sip.
Still, when I slumped down on the couch I had the whole bottle with me.
I had just turned on the TV when I heard my phone ring.
The screen lit up with Tyson’s name.
I sighed.
Tyson had been calling me non stop since I left Maxwell Building. He left a message every time, basically begging me to answer him. I felt bad, but I felt the force of the mate bond pulling me toward him when I listened to his voice in the messages and I was just afraid of what would happen if we met in person.
The phone died down and I glanced at the voice message he left.
Might as well just rip the bandaid off.
I groaned and picked up the phone to listen to his message.
"Hello Valeria." He said, his voice made my heart flutter. “Mr Sampson told me everything and… I can’t even begin to imagine what you went through, but… I just want you to know that it doesn’t change my mind. I want you. All of you. Just the way you are. Just please call me back. I just want to know that you’re okay.”
His voice broke in the end, and I felt my heart shatter.
The message ended and I stared at the phone in disbelief.
He knew it all and he didn’t care?
I found that very hard to believe.
Maybe he wanted me for my powers. Imagine a lycan king with a telekinetic human doing his bidding. Why would he care about the rest of me as long as my powers worked?
Yes, that would probably be it.
Don’t fall for it, Valeria. I told myself.
My stomach twisted and I gulped down some wine to calm it down.
Maybe I should reply?
I picked up my phone again and opened a text message for Tyson.
Tyson.
Now you know everything, so I guess that you can understand why I can't be with you. It's for the best. You should just forget about me.
I sent the message before I could change my mind and drank some more wine.
My phone pinged with a reply from Tyson.
How could I ever forget you? You are amazing!
I rolled my eyes.
Just because I have these powers, doesn't mean that I am amazing.
Somehow, I felt hurt. It hurt to push him away. But there was no way that I would walk into that trap. I already knew what it was like being liked only for what I can do, and not for who I am.
I huffed and threw the phone away on the couch, ignoring the ping of a new message and decided to make some more oatmeal balls.
My mother used to make them all the time when I was a kid. Every time I missed my family, I always made oatmeal balls. It made me feel closer to them.
Alex, my sister, always tried to smear the dough on my face and we often ended up in a smearing war. In the end, our faces would be completely brown and covered in coconut flakes.
I smiled at the memory as I rolled the dough between my palms and dipped it in coconut flakes.
When the balls were cooling in the refrigerator, I went back to the sofa. No matter how hard I tried, I still wanted to see what he wrote.
My heart skipped a beat when I read his message.
I didn’t mean the powers. I meant you.
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t help the butterflies that exploded in my belly.
Yes, it was adorable.
Before I could register my own movements, I walked back to the bedroom and pushed the window open.
Activating the cloaking, I dived out the window. A gush of wind slammed the window shut while I took off in the darkness.
Glancing at the time, I saw that it was around ten at night and it had started to get dark outside.
I carefully landed on the roof opposite the Maxwell building. The view into the penthouse was pretty good.
I hid behind a chimney and looked through the window.
Tyson was sitting on the sofa, a glass in his hand. It made me feel sad that he looked so miserable.
He looked at his phone and tossed it aside.
Was he waiting for a message from me?
Hesitantly, I took out my phone and wrote a text back to him.
I’m just too confused right now. Please give me some space. I’m sorry.
A moment after I sent the message, I saw Tyson basically pouncing on his phone and I chuckled.
I saw him read my message and he sat down dejected on the sofa again.
He brushed a hand through his hair and I saw him typing out a reply.
I understand. It’s okay.
I put my phone back in my pocket and took one last look at Tyson.
Somehow, I could feel it. That mate bond Tyson was talking about kept pushing me towards him. It was like being spelled. A mesmerizing spell that made my body have a mind of its own.
It felt safe, but also terrifying.
When I jumped off the roof and headed back home, Tyson was still on my mind.
I wanted to give in to the feelings I had. They felt more real with every passing minute.
But what if it was a lie?
I would give it a few more days to figure things out, then I would try to talk to him.
Face to face.
The thought excited me and I groaned.
Pathetic.
Crushing on a guy I had only known for a week.
Stupid, right?
