#musicvibe - Way down We Go, Kaleo * Valeria POV We picked up our order and sat down in a booth at Maisie’s. The air was filled with the aromas of their different teas and the freshly made scones. This was our favorite café. We used to come here every time I was off work. I would help Aidan with his homework and he would help me read up on biology, physics and chemistry. I found it helpful to study because I could apply it to my powers and be able to control them better when I understood what I was doing. This visit to Maisie’s, I brought a book on advanced chemistry and Aidan was researching lycans. We were sitting in comfortable silence when the door opened and another customer walked in. I had my back to the door, but out of habit, I lightly brushed over the customer to make sure he or she didn’t have any weapons on them. I stiffened when I sensed the high temperature that emanated from the man that walked in. He was a lycan. I could tell. Aidan looked up when the man sat down in another booth. “Is that…?” He asked. I turned my head and saw Garrett looking back at me. * Garrett POV Valeria rolled her eyes and slammed her book shut. “Let’s go.” She muttered to Aidan. The two got up and left the café. Tyson had asked me to keep an eye on her, so I had gone off to search for her. I found her just as she and Aidan left their apartment, so I followed them. When they walked into the café, I contemplated if I should go in there after them or just stay outside. Deciding that I should follow them, I walked into the café and spotted them in a booth in the furthest corner. I quickly dove into the first booth that I could find, hoping that they hadn’t noticed me. Well, it didn’t take long before they did. I’m sorry, but I’m not some superspy that could just blend in anywhere. The walls around the booth didn’t cover my large frame, and it would be stupid to just crouch down. That would make people stare at me. Because of that, Valeria and Aidan left as soon as they saw me and I cursed under my breath. Tyson would probably strangle me for this. I sprinted out of the cafe to catch up with them and explain myself, but when I came outside they were gone. I frowned in confusion. Where the hell did they go? I audibly groaned and started walking back to their flat, hoping they went home again. When I passed an alley, someone grabbed me by the collar and pushed me up against the wall. I gasped and blinked in surprise when I stared into Valeria’s smoldering eyes. The girl was seething, it didn’t take a genius to notice that. Valeria flicked her wrist and I found myself staring back at a silver dagger, a few inches from my face. I tensed and tried to back away, but her hand was still gripping my collar, trapping me against the wall. “Why are you following us?” Valeria snarled. I peered over her shoulder and saw Aidan standing with his arms folded across his chest. “The girl asked you a question.” He said. “I umm-” I didn’t really know what to say. “Did Tyson tell you to follow me?” Valeria asked. I put my hands up. “I come in peace.” I said. Valeria glared at me. “Why are you here in the first place?” She asked again. I sighed. This was so messed up. Here I was, being threatened by my queen and the Luna of my pack. The one I was supposed to protect until my dying breath. And she didn’t want anything to do with any of it. “Can you put the knife down?” I asked calmly. Valeria didn’t move and I rolled my eyes. “For f*ck’s sake, Valeria.” I groaned. “Could you put the knife down?” Valeria huffed, but lowered the dagger. “You still haven’t told us why you’re here.” She muttered. “I just wanted to check up on you.” I shrugged. “You seemed quite rattled after Tyson told you about the mate bond.” Valeria got a dejected look on her face. “Did he ask you to come find me?” She asked. “It’s not like he could just wander the streets of London considering Amadeus wants him dead.” I nodded. “He did.” I admitted. “He was worried about you.” Valeria rolled her eyes. “I’m fine.” She snapped. “You can go back to your boss and tell him that.” She let me go and gestured with the knife to the street. When I hesitated, she took a step toward me and I quickly raised my hands again. “Alright, alright I’m leaving!” I yapped. “Just…With Amadeus still out there, it could be dangerous. Be careful please.” Valeria lowered the knife. “Why would Amadeus be a threat to me?” She frowned. “It’s Tyson he’s after.” I nodded. “But you’re his mate.” I replied. “You’re his strength and his weakness. If Amadeus found out about you, he could get to Tyson by hurting you.” Valeria sighed. “I’ll be careful.” She shrugged. “Happy now?” I grinned. “Thank you.” I said. “Now leave!” Valeria snarled. I quickly scrambled to get out of the alley. "Dammit Tyson, why did you have to give her a silver knife?" I cursed quietly. * Tyson POV When I reached voicemail again, I sighed. “Hi Valeria, it’s me. Again. Just please let me explain.” I pleaded. “Please call me back or come find me at Maxwell building. I just want to know that you’re okay.” I hung up the phone and buried my face in my hands. The elevator dinged, and I flew out of my chair when I realized that it was Garrett that had returned. “Why are you back so soon?” I asked as I stormed into the room. Garret looked ashamed. “So…” He started. “She busted me.” I raised an eyebrow. “So you decided to just go home?” Garrett raised his hand. “Don’t come at me.” He said defensively. “She waved a silver dagger in my face and basically told me to f*ck off.” I rolled my eyes. “Then you should have stayed with her.” I growled. “You want me to stalk her?” He asked incredulously. I shrugged. “If that’s what it takes, then yeah.” Garrett sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.. “Look.” He said. “Maybe we could go about this some other way.” I frowned. “Any suggestions?” Before he could reply, Kayden walked in with a sour look on his face. “You look like someone pissed on your cat.” Garret said. “What’s up with you?” “I struck out.” He grunted. We both stared at him in confusion and he frowned. “I found nothing.” He groaned and ran his hand through his hair. “There’s no records of Valeria Adams after she was eight years old. Anything remotely related to her after that is redacted.” My eyes widened. “Really?” Kayden nodded. “I’m not surprised.” Garrett sighed. “She’s one of a kind, so I guess they’ll do anything to keep her information under wraps.” “Maybe we should go see Mr Sampson.” Kayden said. “He could probably tell us a lot more about her.” “He seemed kinda hesitant last time I asked him, but I think I have to try again.” I replied. I took out my phone to call Mr Sampson. Garrett and Kayden listened in on the call and their eyes lit up when they heard Mr Sampson agree to a meeting. “I’m sorry for being blunt with you, your Majesty, but I’m not going to be a mate bond matchmaker here.” Mr Sampson said sternly. “You two have to figure that out on your own.” “I understand, Mr Sampson.” I replied. “Thank you.”
