OUR FIRST ENCOUNTER

- MARLIA - I felt my heart beat slower and slower until only my breath could be heard. He had one hand on my neck, the other on my shoulder, his legs spread apart and I was in the middle. I pinned his eyes, his ocean blue eyes placed right above a nose so nicely pointed I was tempted to bite it. His jaw was sharply cut and his broad shoulders left an exciting desire to feel his wide back. I opened my mouth but no words came. I didn't know what to say to this devil, this handsome devil that I didn't mind if he ate me. A thought hit me at that moment, Ares looked nothing like his father. Alpha Magnums had a bad scar and one of his eyes were affected. He was three times larger and he had a crude look but the man in front of me had the softest skin and the most enchanting gaze. He would be mistaken for a god. How could someone like him be destined to destroy all realms. 'What the hell happened to him?’ “Who sent you?” He grew out his claws, holding it up close to my neck. “Speak." I gulped. “No one sent me. I just em… I… I thought the groom was here. I just want to see him before the wedding." He held a unreadable expression, his eyes searching mine, then they went to the hairpin on the floor. “See him? Do You really want me to believe that?” He looked back at me. His facial hair falling seductively beside his eyes. I didn't say a word because I was scared. "Are you a maid?" He asked. “Yes." I replied too fast to think. His eyes left mine, trailing my body. The struggle had ruffled my clothes. I was slightly exposed and it heightened the self-conscious feeling that was gripping me. His gaze went slowly back to my face. “For a maid, you have really smooth skin and a weak body. Fine clothes too. Take my advice. Learn how to lie, Princess.” I bated my breath, realizing he was still as smarter than I comprehended. “What are you doing here?" I pressed my lips shut, but they still quivered. Fesr vividly laced my face. He looked away and exhaled, letting his hand off of my neck. He ruffled slowly down from the bed. I scurried up immediately. Something in me found the position we were just in, unsettling. He took a few laced back until he was standing by the door. “Please leave. You are not supposed to be here. I don't want anyone to see you here. You and my brother should be married by the end of tomorrow; I don't need anyone making brilliant guesses.” He pushed the door open for me. I slipped down from the bed and walked towards the exit. For a second,I paused, my gaze finding him. “Who are you?" He raised a brow. “What?" “I said… who are you?” “How much have they kept from you.” My eyes squinted a bit as I tried to process his voice. There seemed to be a hint of pity. “I am the groom’s brother.” He momentarily looked at the hairpin. “My guess is you didn't come for pillow talk.” I opened my mouth and closed it. “You don't need to say anything. For freedom, a person can do anything. I will tell you though, there is no such thing as freedom. Someone will always control your life.” He turned away, finding a seat on the bed. There was a disquiet silence. I knew that I had pricked him where it hurt. “You look pretty free to me." I said, spurned around and faced him. He looked away. “You too. I guess: Looks can be deceiving.” I lost all the words I wanted to say, just staring at him. He was gloomy but he tried to hide it. For a moment, I wanted to comfort him. My legs seemed to think faster than me, carrying my body out of his room immediately. I head straight for my room, walking tiredly. I looked towards the groom’s room, Unconsciously. In the distance, a shadow opened his door and stepped outside. It looked in my direction. I hid immediately. It must be the groom. I don't want him to see me and realize I am coming from the angle of his brother's room.. Slowly I took a peep. He was gone. "Pewww” I rose and hurried off. Surprisingly, the way back through the east side of the Palace was not heavily guarded. I snuck back into my room with ease. My eyes went to the clock immediately I shut the door. It was some hours before dawn. No matter how bad things looked I had to get some sleep. I threw myself on the bed, my thoughts drifting to the encounter with the Nightheart prince. I sighed heavily. ‘Perhaps his ordeal is the reason the goddess was so certain I couldn't kill him. I closed my eyes trying to picture his face again…. Something strange and loud resounded through the palace. It was Bells. Large bells rang from the outside. The sound of clanging doors filled the passages. I sprang out from my bed, racing to the Open window. My heart palpitating. The uproar outside and the scent of ear in the air, gave me a really bad feeling in my gut. “Whaylt the hell is happening here too? Is there anywhere in this world I can go and find peace?” Torch lights flickered from corner to corner. Wolves shifting and racing off to different directions. There must have been a security breach. There was a sudden urge to know what was going on. I fought it but my curiosity always wins. Immediately I touched the door knob, some one's wail awoke every being in the palace. My feet froze. The voice got louder, he was shouting. "The groom is dead!! The groom is dead!!"
