Since there was no way I could eat that food, I picked it up and flushed it down the toilet. Now I had to figure out how to get to the bottom of all this mess.

Did Bella’s father know that his wife had been treating their daughter this way all along?

I don’t think so, because that middle-aged man seemed to trust his wife completely.

As for these two vitamin capsules, I didn’t throw them away. I put them away carefully, grabbed a tissue, and then stored them in the closet. Maybe later, if I get a chance to talk to Bella’s father, I’ll explain everything.

But when?

“Hah...”

I let out a heavy sigh. It turns out Bella’s life has been so difficult. Then I decided to lie down on the bed.

I need strength to fight them. I have to be healthy to get my revenge.

Suddenly, the image of David and Lidia making love in the office made my jaw clench. Remembering their confession—that they’d actually planned all of this from the very beginning.

How could I have been that stupid? How could I never have suspected them? Even though everyone had been saying I was too blinded by love.

“Wait for my revenge, David. And you, Lidia… I swear I’ll make you pay for everything,” I muttered resolutely, then closed my eyes as drowsiness began to set in.

I didn’t know how long I’d been asleep, but the sound of a knock on the door forced me to wake up.

With a lazy stride, I walked over to open the door.

That’s when I saw a middle-aged man standing behind Mira with a stern expression.

Who was he? Was he Bella’s grandfather?

“Bella, oh my God, haven’t you taken a shower yet? Grandpa Filipe is here to visit you,” Mira said, trying to keep her voice as gentle as possible.

I didn’t answer right away; instead, I stared at the old man’s face. His gaze, which had seemed cold a moment ago, turned warm when his eyes met mine.

“How are you, child?” he said, then walked closer.

“I… I…”

I hadn’t had a chance to answer, but the old man was already glaring at Mira disapprovingly.

“I want to be alone with Bella. Can you leave us alone, Mira?” he said firmly.

Mira swallowed hard. She looked at me with a pleading gaze, shaking her head slightly, as if asking me to stop her from leaving.

But I chose to stay silent, because it seemed like this old man had something he wanted to discuss with me.

And did he know that Mira was actually cunning and had an evil plan?

“Why are you still silent, Mira? Is your hearing gone?”

“Ah, I’m sorry, Grandpa Filipe. All right, I’ll go. I was just afraid that Bella might get sick again and you wouldn’t be able to help her because of your large size,” she said nervously.

“I’m not your grandpa, Mira! So don’t you ever call me Grandpa! And I can handle everything!” he snapped.

“Y-yes, sir, I’m sorry,” she replied and immediately walked away.

After Mira left, the old man named Filipe came in. He closed the door slowly and didn’t forget to lock it right away.

It was as if he wanted to discuss something important with me.

“Bella, Grandpa’s granddaughter… how are you feeling?”

During my time in Bella’s body, this was the first time I’d seen a sincere look in someone’s eyes—and it came from this grandfather.

“I’m feeling better now, Grandpa.”

“Thank goodness. Grandpa’s glad to hear that. Please forgive Alvaro. I’m sorry he put you through this. I told him you’re a good girl, but my grandson was blind to that.”

Ah, so he’s not Bella’s grandfather? He’s Alvaro’s grandfather? But why is he so kind to Bella?

“I regret agreeing to your late grandfather’s request to arrange this marriage if it’s constantly causing you pain,” he said again.

“In that case, I’d like this arranged marriage to be called off. Is that okay, Grandpa?” I asked directly.

Instead of answering right away, Grandpa Filipe stared at me intently, as if he couldn’t believe what I’d just said.

“I… I just don’t want to keep getting my heart broken, Grandpa. And I… I want to focus on my health first,” I explained.

A sigh of relief escaped the middle-aged man’s lips.

“I thought you didn’t love her anymore, son. Considering you’ve always said you loved her. You begged to get married after graduating from school, and now you’re saying to call it off. But it’s okay if it’s for your health, son.”

“Yeah, Grandpa. Besides, he also said he’s in love with another woman, so I don’t want to stand in his way. Let him be happy with the woman he loves.”

“Did he really say that?”

“Hm, he did say that, Grandpa.”

“But I won’t give my blessing for him to marry anyone other than you, kid!”
