Today I was finally allowed to go home. Since I regained consciousness, I’d been in the hospital for about two weeks—one week in a coma and one week after waking up.
Alvaro, that handsome but cold man, didn’t come to visit me again.
I didn’t care either. Even if this wedding were called off, I wouldn’t mind. Because with Bella’s body, I’m going to change everything.
I won’t let Bella be looked down upon. A chubby body—why not? Bella is beautiful, but it seems I need to adopt a healthier lifestyle. I don’t want to die twice before I’ve settled all my scores.
And Bella’s father—I don’t know what he does for a living because, according to Mira, he’s still out of town on business.
Elena—she’s always here, but her face shows her disdain. She’s just showing off, bragging about her life at college, and constantly belittling Bella for not continuing her education.
The car pulled up right in front of a luxurious house. Turns out Bella is the daughter of a wealthy family, too. That made me curious—what kind of business does her father run?
Several servants came to help carry our luggage. Meanwhile, Mira stood beside me, her lips curving into a wide smile—acting as if she were a mother who genuinely loved her child. In fact, she even led me until we stopped at a room that was probably Bella’s.
“Get some rest right away, Bella. Don’t move around too much so your heart condition doesn’t flare up. According to Mom, you shouldn’t exercise. What the doctor said doesn’t matter—how can someone with a weak heart exercise? You’re better off just sleeping and eating plenty. Mom loves Bella and doesn’t want anything to happen to her.”
I stared at Mira in disbelief. How could she say something like that? It was clear that before I left, the doctor had said I could do light exercise—like walking—and follow a healthy diet so I could live a long life.
So why is she saying that?
Ugh, it’s so obvious she actually wants Bella to die. I have to get to the bottom of this.
“Why are you so quiet? Don’t you trust Mom?”
I chose to nod because I felt it was pointless to argue with her.
“Mom feels like you’ve become so quiet lately, Bella. Why? What are you thinking about? You usually always tell Mom everything.”
“Nothing. I’m not thinking about anything. I’m just still tired,” I replied softly, still pretending to look sick.
“All right, just get some rest. They’ll send food to your room later. Now get some rest, okay?”
I nodded, then opened the wooden door, feeling curious. Once the door opened, the first thing I saw was a room decked out entirely in pink.
In fact, this room was practically a Barbie room, complete with lots of Barbie dolls inside.
“Ugh, Bella’s already 20 years old—why is she still playing with Barbies? No wonder everyone says she’s stupid,” I muttered under my breath.
I decided to lock the door; I didn’t want anyone else to come in. I had to look for clues. Who knows, maybe Bella kept a diary or something that could tell me what her life was like back then.
I opened the closet, but my head immediately started spinning when I saw that all of Bella’s clothes were pink. What’s with that? Does she really like the color pink that much?
I opened every drawer in there, flipped through every book, but I didn’t find anything that could serve as a clue.
I clutched my chest. The doctor did tell me to rest, but now I’m running around looking for clues instead.
“Ugh, Bella, why is your body so weak?” I said to myself, then decided to lie down on the fairly large bed.
Since I don’t like Barbie dolls, I just tossed them aside.
“I have to throw them away. My head is spinning just looking at all this,” I muttered as I closed my eyes, deciding to rest for a moment.
But it was a futile effort, because not long after, there was a knock on my door. That forced me, whether I wanted to or not, to get up and see who was knocking.
I opened the door feeling annoyed. That’s when I saw one of the maids carrying a tray. However, her gaze wasn’t fixed on me, but rather on my room, which was such a mess.
Barbie dolls were scattered on the floor, and there were a few pieces of clothing I’d thrown aside earlier.
“Miss Bella, why is your room such a mess?” she asked straight out.
“It’s fine. Just pick up all those things and throw them all away.”
“Throw them away?” she asked, her eyes wide.
“Yes, throw them all away. I don’t like that.”
“Why? Doesn’t Mrs. Bella like Barbie? Doesn’t Mrs. Bella want to be like Barbie?”
“You’re the maid, right? Why are you talking so much? I said throw them away, so throw them away!”
“Yes, ma’am,” she said timidly.
