Chapter7:Beneath the Surface

1357 Words
POV Mark When Mark opens the door to Lisa's house, he is greeted by an icy silence. Lisa stands in the living room, her arms crossed, and her gaze is penetrating. She has noticed something, something that feels off. The tension in the air is almost palpable, like a storm on the verge of breaking. “Where have you been?” she asks, her voice calm but laced with an undertone of concern. Her eyes pierce through him, like a sharp knife trying to break through his façade. Mark feels a cold shiver run down his spine. He had prepared for this confrontation, but now that he is here, with memories of Anna still fresh in his mind, he feels vulnerable. “Just a walk,” he replies, his voice wavering. But even as the words leave his lips, he feels the lie weighing heavily on his shoulders. Lisa’s expression hardens, and he can see the doubts rising in her eyes. She is not convinced. “A walk?” she repeats, her voice now sharp as a blade. “In this cold? You look… different.” Her eyes scan him, and Mark can’t help but feel uncomfortable under her scrutiny. The scent of Anna’s perfume, sweet and alluring, still clings to him like an invisible shroud, and he knows Lisa must smell it. “What do you mean?” he asks, trying to hide his nerves. But Lisa is not about to let him escape. She steps closer, her presence overwhelming, and the tension between them is like a rope being pulled tighter and tighter. “I know you’re lying,” she says, her voice now a whisper filled with rage. “You can’t fool me, Mark. I can feel it. What’s going on with you?” Her words hit him like a slap to the face, and he can see the anger and pain in her eyes. It’s as if she can see right through him, and that makes him even more insecure. Mark feels the pressure mounting. The love he once had for Lisa is overshadowed by memories of Anna—her laughter, the way she had touched him, the fiery moments that had connected them. “I… I was just out to think,” he stammers, but even he doesn’t believe it. Lisa’s eyes flicker from anger to sadness, and in that moment, Mark realizes he is not only facing Lisa’s questions but also the consequences of his choices. “Do you think I’m that naïve?” she asks, her voice now filled with emotion. “You’ve always told me I could ask you anything, but now… now I feel betrayed.” The words cut through him, and he knows he can no longer deny what has happened between him and Anna. The truth looms over them like a shadow, and as Lisa’s anger builds, he feels the chasm between them widening. “Lisa, it’s not what you think,” he tries, but the words come too late. The tension in the room is unbearable, and Mark knows he is on the brink of losing everything—the love he once had and the chance to embrace the truth. POV Lisa Lisa is furious, but she keeps her anger under control. She knows she needs Mark, and that she must continue to win him over for herself. The thought of him turning away from her makes her blood boil. As she stands in the living room, a shadow of her former self, a sinister plan begins to take shape in her mind. She decides it’s time to confront Anna. At an unexpected moment, she will go to her, confronting her with the truth that Anna is so desperately trying to hide. “Mark doesn’t want you,” she will say, her voice cold and calculating. “He wants me! I am the only one for him.” But that’s not enough; she must ensure that Anna receives this message with force and conviction. Lisa’s thoughts whirl like a tornado. What if she can push Anna into a situation that completely overwhelms her? An accident, a little shove in the wrong direction—that could be enough to make Anna realize she’d be better off disappearing. She imagines Anna, with her innocent smile and naïve dreams, ending up in the hospital, overwhelmed by fear and pain. “If that doesn’t work,” Lisa thinks with a sinister grin, “I always have a plan B.” The darkness in her heart grows, and she feels a grim satisfaction at the idea of regaining control over the situation. She will not only win Mark back but also gain power over Anna’s life. With every step she takes, she feels the adrenaline coursing through her veins. This is her chance to show that she is not to be underestimated. Lisa is determined to make Anna feel unwelcome, that she is an intruder in her life with Mark. And if that means getting her hands dirty, she is more than willing to do so. Lisa tries to ease the tension and embraces Mark tightly. As she kisses his neck, she feels the warmth of his skin beneath her lips. She takes his hand and leads him to the kitchen, her voice a soft whisper in his ear: "It's all okay." Her nose brushes against his, and she looks at him with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I made your favorite dinner, but I think we should start with dessert." Their lips meet in a fiery kiss, full of desire and promise. Lisa's hands glide down, unzipping his pants while she pulls down her own panties and lifts her skirt. "Take me here and now," she says in a cool, seductive voice as she bends over the counter. Mark, like a predator that has found its prey, takes her from behind. He pushes himself deep inside her, and Lisa moans with pleasure, her body craving more. She wants to feel the intensity, wants him to take her with abandon. "Pull my hair," she cries out, her voice filled with lust as she surrenders to the moment. As they finally sat down at the table, surrounded by the fragrant aromas of Mark's favorite Italian dish, pasta pomodoro, Lisa held a glass of red wine in her hand, lost in deep thought. The warm glow of the wine mirrored the intensity in her heart as she focused her gaze on Mark. He seemed so relaxed, so happy, and that only strengthened her resolve. In her mind, a dark melody played. She felt the control she had over Mark, like a delicate thread connecting them. But that thread was also a ticking time bomb. If Anna didn't do what she wanted, if she didn't meet the expectations Lisa had set, then Lisa would show no mercy. The thought of Anna sent a cold shiver down her spine. She was prepared to go to any lengths to ensure that Anna would disappear from Mark's life forever. As she took a sip of her wine, she felt the power of her determination. Lisa felt a flame of determination rising within her. Mark was hers, that was for sure! This time, she would not only win the love of her life but also extract everything she had ever missed. The memories of Thomas, with his indifference and the emptiness he left behind, made her realize that she could do better. She would not make the same mistakes. This time, she would take control, perfect her strategy, and show Mark that she was the only one who truly understood him. The thought of their shared future filled her with intense energy as she imagined them laughing together, dreaming, and conquering the world. "I'm going to do it differently this time," she thought to herself, her heart pounding with desire and ambition. She felt the adrenaline coursing through her veins, a mix of love and an unwavering desire to succeed. Nothing would hold her back. Mark was hers, and she would make sure he felt that too. This was her moment, and she would not fail.
