EPISODE 13: THE MAN WHO KNOWS MY SECRETS

843 Words
The gunshot echoed through the night like thunder ripping the sky apart. For a second… everything went silent. Then A body hit the ground. Hard. My breath caught in my throat as my ears rang. My heart slammed violently against my chest, like it was trying to escape. “No…” I whispered, barely hearing my own voice. Smoke curled from the gun. The scent of metal and fear filled the air. I didn’t even realize my legs were moving until I was closer—closer to the body lying still on the cold floor. “Don’t move!” The voice came sharp, commanding… familiar. Too familiar. My entire body froze. Slowly too slowly I turned around. And that’s when I saw him. Standing a few steps away, gun still raised, eyes dark and intense like a storm ready to destroy everything in its path… **Him.** Not a stranger. Not a ghost. Not someone I could forget. My lips parted in shock. “You…?” My voice trembled. He stepped forward, lowering the gun just slightly but his gaze never left mine. “I told you,” he said quietly, his voice deeper than I remembered, “I would find you.” My chest tightened. Everything hit me at once. The past. The running. The lies. The night everything changed. “You’re supposed to be I choked, unable to finish the sentence. “Dead?” he completed for me, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah… I get that a lot.” My knees nearly gave out. It didn’t make sense. I saw what happened. I *lived* it. “I watched you die…” I whispered. His expression darkened. “And I watched you run.” That one sentence hit harder than the gunshot. Silence stretched between us, thick and suffocating. Behind me, the man who had been shot groaned softly still alive. My head snapped back. “Wait he’s not “I didn’t come to kill him,” the man behind me cut in. “I came for answers.” My pulse raced. “Answers about what?” His jaw tightened. “About you.” A chill ran down my spine. Before I could respond, footsteps approached from the darkness. More people. Shadows moving. Danger closing in. He noticed it too. His eyes flicked past me, calculating. “We don’t have time,” he said quickly, stepping closer. “If you want to survive this, you’re coming with me.” “Coming with you?” I almost laughed, but fear swallowed the sound. “You disappear for years, come back from the dead, shoot someone, and now you expect me to just follow you?!” His gaze softened for a split second. “I expect you to remember who I am.” My chest tightened again. Because the truth was… I did. I remembered the way he used to look at me. The way he used to protect me. The way everything fell apart. But this version of him? This man standing in front of me? He felt… dangerous. Different. “Say it,” he demanded quietly. I swallowed hard. “…I remember.” Something shifted in his expression—relief, pain… maybe even regret. But there was no time to process it. The footsteps were getting louder. Voices now. “They’re here!” His hand shot out and grabbed mine. Warm. Firm. Unfamiliar… yet not. “We go. Now.” For a second, I hesitated. Everything in me screamed not to trust him. But something deeper… Something buried… Told me I already did. So I ran with him. --- We slipped through the back exit, disappearing into the darkness as shouts erupted behind us. My heart pounded as we moved fast, turning corners, cutting through narrow paths like he knew this place too well. Finally, we stopped. Hidden. Breathing hard. I pulled my hand away from his. “Start talking,” I demanded, my voice shaking. “Who are you now? And why are they after me?” He stared at me for a long moment. Then “They’re not just after you,” he said quietly. My stomach dropped. “They’re after what you did.” Confusion flooded me. “What I did? I didn’t “Yes, you did,” he cut in, his voice firm. “You just don’t remember all of it yet.” My head spun. “What are you talking about?” He stepped closer. Lowered his voice. “That night… the one you keep running from?” My breath hitched. “You didn’t just witness it.” A pause. Heavy. Terrifying. “You caused it.” My world stopped. “What…?” But before he could explain A gun clicked behind us. “Don’t move.” We both froze. A cold voice followed. “You two have been very hard to find.” Slowly, I turned my head. And what I saw… Made my blood run cold. Because this time— It wasn’t someone from the past. It was someone who knew **everything.**
