Everyone knew of him, but no one ever saw him.
The dark figure crept along the second-floor corridor, unseen by the senators, aides and PST security agents patrolling the closed area above the main hall, ducking into shadow at every voice or footstep that sounded. He possessed a definite humanoid shape, though he was not a man as rumor made him out to be.
When this assignment was over, he would blend back into the crowd and disappear. He was not a political activist, nor did he do it for money. He simply accepted death as the one constant in the universe, and aimed to cause as much of it as possible.
