Aurora POV I spent hours in my new room before coming out. I tiptoed out of the room holding an empty bottle, hoping I won't meet anyone in the living room. I got downstairs, and heaven really blessed me, he is no longer in the dining room. I went to the kitchen and bowed at Martha. "Good afternoon ma'am" "Where is he?" I asked, after greeting her with my beautiful smile. "Who are you talking about?" I looked down, fiddling with my fingers as my body shook to a particular rhythm. Martha got the scenario and chuckled at my attitude. She carefully dropped the knife she was holding and picked up a strawberry fruit. She placed one in between my mouth which got me to look at her immediately. "He has gone out and will be back in dusk" Martha said. My heart felt light immediately as soon as I heard those words. It was as if a heavy load was taken off from my heart. "Oh.....thank goodness " Martha smiled and resumed dicing the spring onions while I mounted on the strawberry fruit not until I felt tiny hands wrapping round the back of my kneecap. I looked back abruptly to see a little girl giggling at me. "Layla" "Your daughter?" I asked. I looked at the child then glanced at Martha "Isn't she beautiful?" Martha asked, dodging my question. I carried her up and Layla carefully wrapped her tiny hands around my neck. "She's beautiful," I gushed, playing with her big cheeks. I gazed at her small face, her cheeks were full and fluffy. Her hair is curly, reminding me of Arlo. She gazed at me, then moved her gaze back to Martha. "Do you live here? I didn't see you around when I arrived, and this house doesn't look like a kid is being raised here" I said. Martha just smiled at me faintly, and Layla smiled brightly at Martha muttering some words, “I have never seen you before. Who are you?” She smiled faintly at her back and Layla smiled more. What's wrong?? Does she not want to play with her??, Those questions ran through my mind but I shoved it off. "So Layla," "Your name, you know my name already" Layla said, and I laughed at her boldness. "Aurora" "I love your name" I chuckled at her response and Layla smiled. Never had I thought someone would smile sincerely at me and talk less of appreciating my name. We heard the sound of a car horn, immediately Layla came down and ran away to only where God knows. "Young lady, go back upstairs," Martha said. I looked at her eyes and saw those pleading affection. I went upstairs and when I got inside the room, I brought my phone to see my picture all over the internet. People are really talking about me and hateful comments are much more than anything. I just buried my face on my thigh as I sighed. Maverick, I thought he said he loves me. I glanced at the diamond ring on my little finger and shut my eyes as the memories of this morning flashed in. "I want to die," I mumbled. A knock came on the door, and I glanced at it then removed my pretty eyes away. I took one of the pillows on the bed and covered my ears with it. People are hating me and I don't want to believe Maverick cheated on me with my step sister. A soft knock came on the door and I ignored it again. Right now, I am emotionally drained. The next thing I heard was the sound of the door unlocking. I hurriedly lay properly and covered my tiny body with the big duvet. "Kitten," No response. Arlo is back but why is he here? And why did he call me kitten? I felt a hand uncovering the duvet from my body and tightened my eyes. "You are not asleep" He caught me. I slowly opened my eyes since he caught me and spoke. "This is not right, I think I made a foolish decision earlier" I said, not giving him a glance. I heard him chuckling and looked at him to know what's funny. "Laughing??" "Kitten, it's not a foolish decision but a good one " He said, and I looked away, biting my lip innocently. Arlo stroked my hair, and pressed a button that was on the nightstand. "Martha told me you haven't eaten anything?" "I was not hungry," I replied. Arlo kept stroking my hair as he stared at me and I looked at him back before moving my eyes back to my fingers as I fiddled with it Martha came in holding a tray of food. She placed it on the table then left. Arlo carried me to the sofa and started feeding me. "Why are you crying?" Arlo looked at me and the tears I had been hiding dropped freely down my cheek. "People hate me right now, they are all judging me badly not knowing Maverick is the cheater here not me" I whimpered. He smiled in amusement then cleaned my tears with his big thumb. My phone chimed and he went to pick it then gave it to me. A message from my father and more came in from him. I dropped my phone and covered my face for minutes. I looked up and could no longer see Arlo nor my phone. I stood up and went out of the room. As I approached the living room, I heard his thunderous voice. "Deal with that hate comment and make sure no one talks about it" I saw that unfamiliar side of him and fear gripped my soul. His voice sounded commanding, sharp and terrifying. Arlo turned back to see me then started walking towards me. He stroked my shoulder then smiled. "Wh......" "My junior, he's not doing his job properly" He said, as if he knows what I want to ask. "Then nag at him gently, it's scary" He smiled in amusement and walked away. The man Arlo shouted at came upstairs, walking past me but not without giving me a glance. Who's he??
