Calyx told me everything about his whole life. I can't believe he went through so much before.

"My mom was Chase's dad's first wife. We were his first family before Chase's family but my dad cheated on my mom." he said lazily.

"Chase is my step brother. We grew up together since I lived in my father's house for seven years. His mom doesn't like me because Dad loves me more than her son. Chase also hates me because he is always compared to me."

I nodded slowly.

"My mother also has another family. She gave birth to my sister and died after. My step father was kind to me and I appreciate it. It wasn't long before my step sister got sick, my step father was depressed because we don't have money for her medicine..." he paused for a while.

I can feel his bitterness and pain while talking so I hold his hand.

"So, I decided to borrow money from my father. I don't want to be indebted to them. It was against my will but I swallow my pride..." he said.

I caressed his hand. He went through a lot.

"Now, I'm paying back what I borrowed from my father. He made me work at his small company and if I can grow it, it will be mine."

I nodded like a little kitten.

"Chase and I don't get along. That's why I don't know what he does in life his and I also don't care. I didn't even know you then."

"It's okay, I understand now," I softly said.

He smiled and hugged me.

And I let him. His nose ran to my neck and sniffed it.

"Thank you for listening," he whispered.

"I'm always here,"

We stayed there for a while. Then Maggie's maid called us because she said the barbeque was ready. I smiled at Calyx. He clasped our hands as we walked towards the big table.

Maggie and Chase are already there. When Chase saw us, he glanced at our hand before looking away.

I secretly rolled my eyes at him.

"Calyx! You came!" Maggie giggled.

"Thanks for inviting us," his low baritone voice said.

Maggie just smiled and grabbed me.

We started eating barbeque and boy, it was so delicious.

"I was the one who marinated it," said Maggie proudly.

"It's delicious," I told her.

We talked a lot while Calyx and Chase were silent. Sometimes Chase just answers when Maggie asks him questions.

I know he was bothered. I know his attitude as well. He doesn't want anyone to get ahead of him. He wants to be at high.

Now I know why he is always angry when he looks at Calyx.

"Ken, can you come with me?" Maggie asked.

"Sure!" I said let's go together.

I turned to see Calyx who's now looking at me.

I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"I'll accompany Maggie,"

He nodded and shifted his weight. I was about to leave when he quickly kissed me on the lips.

"Take care," he whispered.

I bit my lips and looked away.

My chest is pounding so loudly.

I accompanied Maggie wherever she went. She happily unboxed one of her boxes.

"Chase brought this for me," she said with a smile.

"That's good,"

She sighed.

"We had a fight yesterday..."

My eyes widened.

"Why?"

He shrugged.

"I saw him with another woman at the restaurant yesterday so I asked him who it was. He said it was his business partner and I didn't believe it." she said.

I gritted my teeth.

Could it be?

"But don't worry! He already said sorry and he gave this to me earlier," she smiled.

I smiled and hugged her.

"I'm always here for you Mags," I said.

She nodded and smiled.

We went downstairs and saw Maggie's maids panicking.

"What's wrong?"

"Miss Maggie! Sir Chase and Calyx are fighting each other!"

My eyes widened and quickly walked towards the backyard. I saw Chase punch Calyx so I panicked.

"Calyx!" I shouted.

"Chase! Stop it!" Maggie shouted.

I ran towards them.

The security guards quickly attended and separated the two.

"Damn you! I hope you didn't come back!" Chase shouted at Calyx.

Calyx didn't say a word and was about to punch Chase again if I hadn't approached him right away.

"That's enough..." I said softly.

"Damn it!" he cussed and hugged me tightly.

"What happened Chase? Why are you fighting with him?" Maggie asked confused and grabbed Chase.

"He's a plague! A plague in my life!"

"You're the plague! I've put up with your behavior for years!" Calyx said angrily.

"f**k you! You're just jealous because Dad likes me more than you now!" Chase shouted.

Maggie's eyes widened.

"W-What?" she stuttered.

Calyx barked a laugh and wiped his lips.

"No matter what you do, I'm still better than you."

Chase looked angrily at Calyx. My eyes widened when he took a baseball bat.

I intervened.

"Stop it Chase! What is wrong with you?" I shouted at him angrily.

He stopped and his eyes widened.

"Why are you doing this! He's your brother for Pete's sake!" I shouted.

Maggie was shocked when I screamed at her fiancé.

He laughed a little.

"I already told you Kendra, you don't know him." he said sharply.

"I don't care what you think Chase!" I shouted at him.

He smiled bitterly. "I don't know what you saw in him,"

After he said that he left.

Maggie's lips parted.

"M-Maggie..." I called her.

"Ken, what's happening? W-Why? You already met before? I thought he was your colleague," she struggled to say.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes tightly.

"Follow him," I replied.

"No! Tell me Ken, y-you yelled at him earlier and there was a hint in your voice that it was as if you knew each other," she said shakily.

I sighed heavily.

"I don't want to hurt you,"

"Tell me the truth Ken, it will hurt me more if you don't tell me the truth." she said pleadingly.

I locked my gaze at her.
