I look in the mirror at my new appearance. My once pale fair skin now has a slight bronze color and my once dull hair looked to have even grown and gotten a coat of shine added to it as well. On top of everything, my skin was glowing and I felt fantastic, better than I ever had before.
Rita had explained how after being marked I would slowly change and become a more evolved human being, this was so I could become the strong Luna that I was destined to be. I wouldn't be able to shift or anything, but I would be much faster and stronger than before. I just didn't think I would get prettier though, s**t even my breasts had gone up a cup size. I had to request some new bras from Rita, who greatly obliged and brought me a bag filled of Victoria Secret goodies.
I had been here one week and since Dean had marked me I had yet to see him. Rita said he was out on pack business and should be back by tonight. Since he had been gone it was actually quiet around here, I got a lot of homework done and Rita took me on a tour of the mansion and the grounds.
I found that the mansion was four stories tall, the Alpha's floor was on the fourth with the grand stair case taking you to the second floor, to get to the first or third floor you must go by elevator and be checked by security since it was the pack offices and also the Beta's apartment was located on the south wing of the third floor. It explains why I never saw a third floor and why the whole layout of the mansion was so vast and confusing to me.
There was the kitchen, dining room, movie theater, gym, game room and indoor pool all located on the second floor. Then the first floor had the sitting areas, music room, indoor bowling alley and the ball room where they hosted parties and ceremonies, where I found out we would be attending one tomorrow, this Saturday and I was terrified.
The last time I went to a party it was at a friends house and there was a keg and rap music blaring so loudly you couldn't hear anybody talk, along with copious amounts of drugs and alcohol. It was safe for me to assume that I had never been to an event like the one I was about to attend before.
I walk out of the washroom after changing into a purple patterned haltered sundress with a pair of black rhinestone flats. I hear footsteps on the front porch of the cottage and the door swings open to reveal a piggy tailed Rita wearing shorts and a maroon strapless top that accentuated her large bosom.
Her face was flushed pink and she looked gorgeous as ever, "Hey Mel! You want to go down to the lake with me? We are all having kind of a picnic out there, it is a common thing to do on the weekends." She shrugged and looked at me anticipating my answer.
"Yeah, lets go! I'm already ready."
She squeals in delight as she shouts out, "See Jax?! I told you I could get her to say yes!"
I hear a low laugh from outside and a shaggy blonde haired man steps inside the door smiling, "I never doubted you babe."
She rolls her eyes, "Mhm, I believe you were too scared to get her so I had to come myself! Hopefully Riley can handle the jello shots and margs."
I smile, "Mm jello shots?"
She nods her head, "Come on! Let's go!"
She pulls my hand as the three of us head down the trail away from the mansion, we get to the east side of the property when a giant lake is in my view. It is gorgeous, my mouth gapes open at the sight in front of me. I had no idea that this was back here, the water was so blue and evergreen trees lines around it to ensure privacy from the outside world.
There was a stage with music being played live, and patio chairs and tables set up all over the clearing with kids running and playing in the water. I could see other mates in the distance kissing and running off together probably to make love, since that is what mated wolves do. I felt sad for a minute realizing that something deep down made me miss Dean.
It had been five days since she had last seen him and she she really hadn't minded a minute of him being gone. Sure she thought of him, but she felt so overwhelmed with everything going on in her life and around her that she could hardly think straight let alone think about somebody else. Call her selfish, but it really was a lot for her this one week.
There are easily two hundred people with loud music and drinks being made, it looked like a lot of fun, but Melanie couldn't deny the pit in her stomach. Rita brought me a jello shot and a strawberry banana margarita. I smile and say thank you before she runs over to Jax an jumps on his back, handing his his drink over the back of his shoulder.
They said a cheers before Rita and Jax started to slowly gaze in each others' eyes and were dancing with their hands groping each other sensually in the moment. Mel felt her cheeks redden and turned around towards the lake.
She decided to take a seat where she had a good view and laid her head down on the grass, just relaxing to the movements of her breathing and the sounds around her, when she felt somebody sit beside her. She jumped at the foreign voice, "Hey, how's it goin?"
She looked up to see a dark haired man with a strong chiseled jaw line. Just like everyone she'd met in this pack, he was gorgeously handsome. He looked her up and down with a smile on his face that made her blush. She flipped her hair to the side to get it out of her face when his gaze fell to the mark on your neck and his smile soon met a frown.
"So where is your mate at?" He asks me solemnly.
She felt her face get even more red at the mention of her mate, "Uhm, I guess working. I don't really know, he never told me."
She looked down, sad at the meaning of her own words. He never told her where he was going or for how long, or just plain anything. He just left her, plain and simple.
The man looked down at her with a newfound grin on his face, "Hm, well let me know when you need your heat taken care of, that is always my specialty," he says still smiling creepily at her.
I feel uneasy about his face an immediately say, "Well I don't know if Dean would be very happy with that."
At the hearing of her words he immediately jumped up from his comfortable position laying down on the grass beside me and bowed his head, "I deeply apologize to you Luna, I-I had no idea who you were, please don't let Alpha know of my mistake, I promise it will never happen again."
Her eyes were wide at his humility, she did not expect to get such a reaction off of Dean's name alone. She slowly nodded her head as he bowed once more and retreated towards a group of giggling girls that were drinking margaritas by the water. Which only reminded me to drink more of mine.
I was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol when I felt a warm tingle spread around my back, I look up to see Dean wrapping his arm around my seated frame and taking a seat beside me.
"Why are you sitting her all by your lonesome beautiful?"
She shrugged, "Just wanted a little peace I guess, although I wasn't alone the whole time, some creep came up asking about my heat? To which I was grossed out by his creepiness and told him you wouldn't like it and oh my God did he bolt faster than lightning itself."
At first Dean looked angry by what she said, his eyes were black and his muscles flexed out in his arms and chest, but instead he just looked at her before saying, "You realize he is probably scared to death that I am going to kill him now you know."
She stares at him grimly, terrified, was he serious? She doesn't say anything, he still has his arm around her as he nuzzles himself to the crook of her neck, "Although it is nice to know you thought of me when another man wanted to take you instead."
She looked shocked by his words, but understands. He was happy that she said his name and scared him off! Although that didn't explain everything that she was curious of by far. "What did he mean when he said my heat?"
For the first time since I met him I say his face blushed, "Uhm, I don't think you'll have to worry about it."
Mel look confusedly at him, "Then why would he say that to me?"
He signed and looked at her reluctantly, "Because he might not have known you were human, as a human you shouldn't go into heat; it just isn't natural or a normal thing to happen. i***t was probably to drunk to realize you didn't have a wolf."
Before I can say anything else I feel a soft hand rest on my opposite shoulder. I jolt my head up to see the gorgeous older blonde woman, whom I discovered to be Dean's mother.
She smiled and waited as Melanie stood up straight to bow to the Luna and greet her as appropriately as she knew how. Before Melanie could awkwardly say anything, she was already speaking in her soft melodic voice that could raise a swarm of song birds to sing with her.
"Well hello Ms. Melanie, it so nice to finally officially meet. I am Luna Jaclyn, buy you may call me Jaclyn, or mom if you wish," she said with a wink at the end of her sentence.
I felt my face blush out of shy anxiety, "Thank you Jaclyn, it is definitely an honor."
She nodded before saying, "I am looking forward to seeing you at the Alpha an Beta unification ceremony tomorrow, it will be a nice premonition to what is to come for your own ceremonies."
Did she really just say ceremonies, as in plural?! Like multiple ceremonies for multiple events?! Oh my Lanta what did I get myself into here.
Instead of stating what she was thinking Melanie gave a innocent smile and nod, "Yes mam, I am more than excited to attend."
She nodded her head and walked over to the stage where she spoke with Dean's father and a group of other older pack members. She felt Dean's hand slide into hers and she groaned, "Dean, can we- can we just take this slow for awhile?"
She felt him sigh beside her and let go of her hand, even though he had marked her she still didn't feel any superior feeling towards him than she did before. Yes, she did like him and could see them being together, but after everything that has happened she just needed more time to get comfortable with everything new to her. That is when it finally crossed her mind, she wasn't the same Melanie anymore, this would be a new her, a new identity.
