WTF

1515 Words
My heart is pounding out of its chest. I can't believe what I just saw in front of my eyes, I want to run, but I feel useless and defenseless against what has just happened. I watch as the hundreds of wolves disperse into the woods and all that is left is Dean, Emmett and I. Dean is looking off into the woods and the hills, without looking at Emmett or me he says, "Take her home Em."     I feel a tug at my arm and look up to see Emmett's solemn expression urging me to follow him to the black Cadillac SUV. He opens the back driver's side door for me and jumps into the drivers seat. He looks back at me in the rear view mirror, intently thinking about something before starting the truck and putting it in drive.      We slowly pull into the driveway and drive for about five miles until we reach a tall black iron fence and gate, probably at least thirty feet tall. There were four men standing at the gate, all with serious faces, but all were staring at me. Emmett waves to one of the men who nods his head and presses a button on his tablet, before the tall iron gates swing open an let us through.     We continue down this gravel road for another five or ten miles before entering the county road highway. I see Emmett strumming his fingers on the steering wheel. He sighs and looks back at me in the rear view mirror before turning the already low volume music all the way off.     I feel tears slowly dripping down my face and hear Emmett sigh several times before saying, "Everything is going to be okay Melanie."     I smile at his kind words, "Nothing has ever really been okay though, has it Em?"     He smiles at the nickname, but it quickly fades away before he states with no emotion, "He would never let anything happen to you, just so you know. I also know that what you saw today wasn't the most normal thing that happens in the world. I want you to be honest with me and tell me how you are feeling about what just happened."         Could I even answer the question though? Heck, I didn't even know what I was feeling about what just happened. Part of me is still thinking it was all just a dream and the other part of me wants to run for the hills, but then their is a tiny sliver of me that has curiosity to go back and see if what I saw was true.     "Mel?"     I forgot I never answered him, "Nothing in my life has ever been normal Emmett. Why should it start to be normal now? But hey, Em?"     He looks back at me in the mirror again, "Yeah?"     I think carefully before I say slowly with much thought in my words, "When Dean was fighting with that older man...he said that I was his. Why would he say that, is it because he kidnapped me and was trying to keep me hostage? Did he feel guilty, and that is why he let me go?"     He sighs for the hundredth time during this drive before saying, "I can't answer your question Mel."     I chuckle a little, of course. Why would his henchman lead me through any clues or facts. I was obviously on my own in this predicament.      Emmett's phone rings once before he pulls off to the side of the road and picks it up on the second ring, "Yea?"     I can hear yelling and smashing from the line of whoever just called him and the phone isn't even on speaker.     He looks back at me before saying into the phone, "Okay boss."      Without saying a words to me he turns around and head back in the direction we had came from. I feel panic rise in the pit of my stomach, "Uhm Em, where are we going."     He looks back at me and sighs once again before giving me a pained expression and saying, "He wants you to go back."     WHAT! No! This can't be happening. I can't go back there, I have school and work! I have a life! I need to get back home! I feel my anxiety keep rising and I search for an unlock switch but there isn't one.     "Let me out Emmett."     I try to be calm, he looks at me and just shakes his head. I feel the panic keep rising and try to open the door to the SUV, but it is child locked. Really? Child freaking lock?!      "LET ME OUT NOW!" I start kicking the back of his seat, punching the window, punching the seat. Emmett ignores me and I feel like the car is flying down the gravel road that we turned onto.      I keep kicking, yelling and punching, but to no avail he keeps driving. I can see we are approaching the iron gates, but I don't stop screaming and throwing limbs at the window and seat in front of me. Emmett gives the wide eyed guard a quick wave before they open the gates, all while staring wide eyed at me.     "I SWEAR EMMETT! IF YOU DON'T LET ME OUT NOW-"     He stops me mid sentence as he slams on the brakes and I lurch forward in my seat. We are now in front of a small cottage-like house in the middle of the trees that branch out throughout the property. I didn't see where he turned off to, to get to this house, but I knew we were still on the same property and before.      Emmett slams the drivers side door after quickly getting out and goes to open my door, I swiftly fling my right foot at his face, but he is of course too fast and instead grabs both of my feet and pulls me out of the SUV, before flinging me over his shoulder and taking me into the cottage.     He sets me on the couch as I scream, "YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST KEEP ME HOSTAGE? AS SOON AS I CAN I AM LEAVING!!!"     Before Emmett can say a word to me, the front door bursts open and in comes in a shirtless Dean who looks furious. Before I can even say another words he is in front of my face staring back at me with those same pitch black eyes that I had first met that night at work. I gulp whatever saliva had been pooling in my mouth from staring at his naked chest.      Great, just checking out my captor. He doesn't say anything before he looks me up and down, his eyes turn to the gorgeous gold topaz color that I remember so fondly. Why do I think of his eyes fondly though? Ugh, I repulse myself with my thoughts. Emmett walks out of the cottage quietly without saying a word.     "Why do you need to leave?" He tilts his head to the side sarcastically and gazes into my eyes with fierce intent that I can barely utter a word. Both of his arms are on each side of me, pinning me into the couch. I feel myself scrunch as far down into the couch as I can go, but he only comes closer to me.     "Uh-uhm...I have class online and work.." I mumble quietly. I don't know why, but I am frightened yet also so curious about him.        He smiles before saying, "I will get you a laptop for school, as far as work goes though, you don't need to go anymore."     My eyes widen, "I like to work though! That is why I am going to school! I want to go further in my career, it is very important to me." I state this out sadly before I hear a grumble deep in his chest.     "What kind of work do you do?" He looks at me with curiosity in his eyes as well, but his focus never leaves my eyes.     I blush from his gaze, "I uhm...pass medications and take care of residents at a nursing home."      He nods his head and stands up thinking deeply about something. "I will talk to the pack nurse, you can work at our hospital."        Once again my eyes widen, "WHAT?! I LIKE TO WORK AT MY JOB! I care about my residents and my co workers there, I am supposed to go back in on Monday!"     A growl escapes from him as he shouts, "DON'T YOU YELL AT ME LITTLE PUP! I CAN DEFINITELY YELL LOUDER!!"     I whimper and try to dig a hiding hole in the couch to no avail. His red face returned to normal color before he turns around and starts to walk out the door. I yell after him, "I hate you! I will never be yours!"     He stops in his tracks, I could tell he was about to say something, but he returned to the door and walked out before slamming and locking it in place. Oh yeah? Lets see if that holds me.
