Rex moved quickly upstairs and through the library’s tunnel. Kilo was sealed behind the heavy door. He had done the only thing he could—he had traded his presence for her safety.
Ghost was waiting at the top of the stairs.
“The room was sealed,” Rex confirmed. “She’s safe. Now, what’s the damage report?”
Ghost handed Rex the tablet and said,
“It’s not good, Rex. When Silas fled, he didn’t just run. He sent out a false signal across Julian’s old network.”
Rex stared at the tablet and said, “What did he say?”
“He blamed you for the murder of Julian and for the destruction of the docks, but he added a lie: he said you destroyed all of Julian’s hidden accounts—the ones holding money for Julian’s silent partners, the powerful people who funded Julian’s work.”
