Ariana and Ricky remained in the woods around the home, they were probing its defences and, it's trying to hear what was being said inside, but it was no dice, the warden had put up superior defences and made it hard to penetrate anything coming from the house. Then with the door open, they heard clearing.
“There’s been witch hunters nosing around.”
They began to slowly move out of the area. It is not that they could not hold their own, it was that they should not engage witches that had not yet proven to be a problem. They were more curious than anything, like where was the Warden’s body and why were two murders not the most talked about event in this little town. They did not know of Abigail being taken to the Faelund and interned there, and they also did not know that the girl was from another town. Duke, Jason, and Casimir had cleaned things up, they did not want hapless humans coming upon things they were not ready for.
Jack, Jason, and Duke walked outside. The now humanoid cat creature version of Sheba remained in the house. Something was off; you could feel the energy in the air. Sheba hissed into the night.
“Something is coming, something evil, and very powerful, get into the house now, you too witch hunters.”
Ariana and Ricky slowly rose from their hiding place and intrigued by what they had heard and what was being done and said now, they complied and went into the house. The lights were all turned off and the wards strengthened. Still, an unnatural wind was beginning to pick up around the cabin. Something was coming, and it felt like ice-cold wind, the kind that chilled more than your bones, but also your soul and heart. Just as they had gotten into different positions waiting for something to happen, a familiar and very unexpected face walked in. It was Abigail the Warden of the Grove. How she was here, none of them knew, all they knew was they were happy to see her, but she motioned to her lips to be quiet. She whispered.
“Something is stalking the woods. We must be very careful, I will distract it, you all head to town, and Sheba, you go with them.”
They all nodded. Abigail drawing her two swords from their sheaths, her eyes glowing green.
Meanwhile in the Grove…
Casimir was of course elated by the return of his mentor and friend Abigail, but things got very serious very quickly after her return. They were going to do a fae ritual to bring the grove back. This would attract the Dark Lord’s attention but being reborn through the Gaia was no laughing matter.
Casimir was joined with the seven sages of the Council of Sages. He and them would heal the grove by them channelling their healing energy through him. He could handle huge quantities of power and act like a transformation chamber changing the energy, so it did not overwhelm the grove. It was a dangerous thing, however, and it would most certainly be dangerous. Avery stood nearby for support. This was no minor task, and it was a very important task indeed.
“Everyone takes your places. Lord Casimir, you will stand between use and absorb our energy, transforming it into pure healing force and using it to restore the grove to its former glory and quite possibly beyond. Are you ready?”
Casimir nodded. He stood in the middle and the seven began their chant.
White holy energy began to pour into Casimir and as it did, he laid hands on the tree in the centre of the grove. Brilliant green light filled the tree and his body. Moments later new growth began to form on the tree, green leaves, and flowers of all sorts. The other trees began to blossom too. Flowers from the fae realm were forming from the magic they were pouring into the tree.
Meanwhile at the Cabin…
The cabin began to shake as the onslaught began. Through the windows could be seen Matilda and Cygnus launching energy balls against the barriers trying to drop them. Everyone drew their weapons and readied themselves, for as soon as those barriers dropped it was game on for a serious fight. Demons of all shapes and sizes were forming around the property. Dark Lord still had an army at his disposal, and it was going to be a serious issue.
Suddenly Abigail began to overflow with power. The grove was being revived. Her whole body began to glow green as she lifted off the ground. She transformed into spiritual Armor. She landed again with green energy still flowing around her. She smiled; Casimir had done it. At that moment the barriers fell, and they all charged from windows and the front door. Fireballs and lightning and energy of all types were blasting from every direction.
Dark Lord looked on through his crystal orb. He snickered as they walked right into his trap. So many demons would not be overthrown by four witches and a Warden and her familiar. Then suddenly a huge flash of green from inside the cabin caused him to gasp, when they exited the cabin Abigail was in new spirit Armor, and she was more powerful than ever.
“It’s time to take out the trash.”
“Bring it oldie locks.”
Cygnus mocked Abigail's hair colour and her age, but she did not know was that the process of rebirth had regenerated her by several years. Cygnus raised her shield just as before, but Abigail hurled her daggers through the air like two glowing missiles each of them punching a hole into the barrier and placing cracks all throughout. Cygnus gasped stepping back.
“Impossible!”
“No darling, it's very possible, and now I am sending you and that b***h Matilda straight to hell!”
Vines erupted from the Earth beneath both evil witches wrapping about their arms and legs and neck, pulling them to the ground. While the others handled the demons Abigail took her vengeance for what was done to her grove. She with one fast slice of her sword each decapitated Cygnus and Matilda, ending their puny lives and dismissing the remaining demons summoned by their magic.
Dark Lord slammed his hand onto the table. His minions had been defeated and so easily by the powers of those witches and that damned warden whom he had killed once. He scowled at the knowledge he was going to have to face her himself, something he did not wish to do, but he knew if he planned on getting those demonic powers from this Casimir he would have to go through his defenders for. But like candy from a baby, who showed up none other than Casimir and his consortium of help.
“We did it, we revived the grove!”
“I know you did! Good job, I was overflowing with power and defeated Cygnus and Matilda, they will not bother us anymore.”
Everyone gathered around Casimir, but then the Dark Lord himself appeared. The presence of evil was overwhelming. His aura was powerful beyond measure, and it was going to take all of them to stop him if they hoped to succeed. For he had absorbed many souls to gain his power and was no longer a normal Phoenix or witch or anything like it. In fact, he was more powerful than most demons, and this made him a huge problem, one they were not prepared to face yet, but they probably had no choice.
“I see you dispatched my minions. Saved me the trouble of betraying and killing them later, but you overlooked one thing my dears, I am far more powerful than any of you, and I am going to enjoy tearing you meddlesome witches apart.”
Black lightning erupted from his hand and flew towards Casimir who erected a barrier just in time. As he maintained the barrier he was impressed with the strength of the Dark Lord. He was having trouble holding the barrier and it was beginning to c***k. It was Abigail who stepped forward.
“Why don’t you pick on someone with more experience you coward!”
Larry hated being called a coward, he was not a coward. He never had run from a fight in his life. Sure, he may have used some underhanded methods to deal with his enemies, but he was not a coward. Turning to the woman addressing him, he unleashed a bolt of black lightning, but she absorbed it into her sword and redirected it as an orb of black lightning back at him. He dodged surprised at her skill and power. How had she done that?
“Impressive, but now I must banish you to hell Warden.”
“Oh, we will see about that you mother fucker!”
White light and embers began to form around Abigail, black lightning, and wind around Dark Lord. The wind erupted from them set everyone stepping back, they covered their faces in amazement at the amount of energy being released. Suddenly the two jumped at each other. The resulting shockwave lit up the sky with a crash of thunder and fire. Falling from the air was none other than Dark Lord and Abigail locked in close quarters combat. The two flew away from each other and landed.
“Enough of this let's finish it!”
Abigail screamed at him. A sly smirk crossing his face. He had something up his sleeve and she knew it, but what. She could not worry about it too much, he needed to be stopped and brought to justice for all he had done.
“Gaia, mistress of the Earth, hear my solemn prayer, give me the power to destroy this evil!”
In a flash of radiant light 13 people appeared. It was the Phoenix Council. They had arrived to arrest Dark Lord Larry Geigh once more.
