A Rebirth, A Ressurection, A Betrayal, An Engagement

Casimir had been despondent. Too much death, and now innocents not even associated with them were being harmed as well. Plus, he mourned the death of his mother and now his mentor Abigail. It was almost too much to bare. In Elven tradition, people die at planted in magical trees. These magic trees are said to whisper secrets from beyond. Abigail as a warden was afforded the same courtesy and honour. In the ethereal realm… Abigail found herself in a grove much like her own, only it was much older and crossed with a stone cairn. In the centre was an altar and on the altar were crystals and incense and implements of all sorts. Abigail used incense and brews but rarely used witch's tools, still the spread was very impressive and very large. A man in native American apparel approached her, and he spoke, but not with words or even into her mind, it was more like right into her heart. (You are a very wise and powerful warden Abigail, executing your duties with intention and grace. As such we at the Council of the Dead have chosen to send you back through rebirth in the form of a giant flower on your tree. In three days, you will be reborn a bit younger, and you will technically no longer be a human but an elemental, but you will live.) “Do I have any say in this? I am tired, tired of losing people, tired of losing things, tired of losing time?” (You will understand your purpose more than ever once you are reborn through the Gaia, and the World Tree.) Back in the Forests of Ancestral Kin… Abigail’s tree tripled inside revealing a large flower bud near the top. The sages of the Wood knew this mean she was going to be reborn, and they began preparing for it immediately. It was customary to just let the reborn walk back into the lives of their loved ones, so no trumpets or ringing bells were going to announce her arrival. No, she would walk in and surprise them all, most of all Casimir. Avery had been planning his next moved for quite some time. He had not taken a consort of any sort since being in the capacity of the king, he also never had someone he loved outside of kingship before, but all of that was different now. He had Casimir, and he knew he loved him and that he wanted nothing more than to be with him. He knew the risks of a human elf relationship, the age differences, and that Casimir would die much sooner than he would, but he did not care. Whatever it was about him was alluring and powerful, and made Avery want to know every inch of him. Casimir was pure and simple. He was still torn about his religious belief system. In his mind and heart was his relationship with God, the one he had cultivated and nurtured and never took for granted. The one which let him start a club at school and attend three different churches to get as much god as he could. Now he had been through the equivalent of six months of training. He had learned much about magic and its use. He also was no slouch a savant if the Council of Sages had ever seen one. Avery was his first kiss, the first time he was held, the first time he felt these feelings outside of lust for a few people here and there. Being a good Christian boy, he never acted on any of the urges. He attempted to pray the gey away when these urges would arise, and yet no matter how he would pray they would continue. Yet when he was Avery all those doubts, all that worry, all that feeling like a sinner faded. He felt like he belonged, and like the magic made sense to him because everything around him was magic. He could see beyond the illusion of life to the underlying order. Only love was real, and love could conquer everything. In those moments all the death did not sting so bad. In those moments and hope joined his soul. Avery was going to ask Casimir to be his love and his husband. They would rule together until the seven kingdoms removed them, or until both were dead. This was a great honour and a huge responsibility he was asking Casimir to be a part of. It was no minor task, and it would be a big decision, but Avery was certain it was the correct decision. Casimir could continue his studies and become a powerful witch and warrior, and he would learn tactics and war skills. He would be magnificent. Casimir was summoned by royal courier to the throne room as were all the members of his party and their friends. Something big must be going on. Was it demons? Was the Dark Lord attacking? Everyone was on edge as they approached the throne room. When the door was opened the king was clothed in magnificent robes of blue and the whole hall was decorated with the colours of Solaris and his home kingdom of Water. “Welcome friends. I have invited you here for a very important event which is going to change the course of people's lives. One which I did not foresee happening when it began.” Avery stepped down from the dais which held the throne. And on one knee he went before Casimir who stammered. King Avery produces the Solaris Prince's ring, the symbol of the prince of the Kingdom which is what Casimir’s rank would essentially be. Casimir could not feel his lips. In fact, for that matter, he could not feel anything but pure butterflies. It was like something from a fairy tale, only it was a King saving a Prince from himself. Casimir did not even think he nodded yes and fell into Avery’s arms. There was a gasp around the whole room. Jason and Duke exchanged looks. Casimir was certainly taking a huge step, but it was him to take and decide. He had to choose his own path in life, and this was part of it. Even though neither were sure it was the best idea. They would not stand in the way of love, because they knew that love had the power to overcome. Suddenly as if synchronicities were not obvious enough Cygnus and a small army of evil appear inside the throne room. Everyone drew their weapons as her evil cackle echoed through the room as Matilda struck down Jason and Duke with her blade and one fell swoop. Her evil cackle also echoed through the room as surprised gasps of betrayal echoed through the throne room. Why, what was she doing this for? The demonic creations present with them were scarecrows with red glowing eyes and insidious laughs. Casimir in tears of rage jumped into the air, slashes of light where his daggers moved like the wind and cut down two of the scarecrows. Avery let off every beam of light igniting several of the foes. Jack turned to face Matilda. His eyes burned with rage. “Will, you at least tell me why?” “Because none of you ever cared about me. You always ignore me; I mean nothing to you!” Their swords came together in a clash of wind erupting from their swing as the powerful wind filled the whole throne room. Casimir turned his focus on Cygnus. His rage blinded him, and he was on the edge of losing control as he jumped into Cygnus and hit her barrier bouncing backward and landing somewhat stunned on the ground behind him. Cygnus and Matilda both slipped through personal portals as the others rushed to Jason and Duke. Jason was too late, but Duke was holding on by a three. Casimir stepped in now, and he showed his friends and family something amazing about his powers and abilities, something beautiful. A white light began to flow around Duke and Casimir as they both gently lifted from the ground. Images of their childhood playing out above their head like a movie. Good times and bad, but then it all turned to the most powerful times. When the dog died, when grandma died, when the house caught fire. All at once, white light began to pour into Duke’s wounds. The blood flowed backward, and the horrible cut sealed itself. Within moments Duke’s eyes were opened. Everyone was staring at Casimir who was bathed in holy light and glowing with it. “I am the balance, I am the light and the dark, and for as much as I can destroy, I can also create.” A huge flash of light healed various injured soldiers and people who had gathered. Then a holy light also began to glow from Avery’s chest. A radiant warm light like the sun only gentler. One by one the holy light began to burn in the hearts of everyone gathered. And that included Jason. He rose from the ground as rainbow light poured into his body's heart area. He began to breathe as light flowed through his mouth and eyes. He spoked. “Wow, the other side is beautiful, but I know I have more to do here, so here I am! Thank you, Casimir, and congratulations.”
