Training Begins

2039 Words
Casimir 5 Abigail was not a bit surprised her new student groaned on day one when she woke him at four am to start his training. His eyes looked like raccoon eyes and he stumbled about into the kitchen. She passed him a cup of herbal substances. It glowed gently and smelled like ass. Liam eyed her with caution. “What is this?” “It is actually a brew of my own making; it will open your chakras and energize your aura to heal itself. This will allow me to read you better.” “It smells like ass.” “Well pardon me, mua ha-ha!” Liam slowly lifted the mug to his lips, to his surprise it tasted much better than it smelled. Like coffee with herbs in it. It reminded him of spaghetti sauce in some ways. As he drank, he could feel something begin to happen to him. Something felt very weird in his tailbone area, like fire, but not like bad fire, like something war. He looked up in shock. “Relax Liam, this is your chakras awakening.” Liam felt like electricity was running up and down his spine all the way through the top of his head. Like he had plugged himself into everything and yet nothing at once. Then he was suddenly back with LaSheinDei. She was smiling warmly at him. This time an old man in white robes joined her. They looked like they belonged together, and he felt safe and comfortable. LaSheinDei took his hands in hers. “Don’t be afraid Liam and Casimir.” Now both sat side by side for the first time. Suddenly the feelings all made sense. The magic inside him not being his, the mark appearing on his flesh from nowhere. Without being told, like he just knew, he understood that he had been dead, and Casimir had soul migrated to his body so soon after he died that he acted like an anchor holding his spirit in place. He also understood that things in the cosmos relied on a balance. That by being alive when his soul was supposed to be dead it threw things out of order. And he knew what he had to do. Meanwhile… “Liam! Liam! Wake up!” Abigail stood over Liam with worry in her voice. What had happened was not normal for this brew. It unblocked things and sometimes caused gas, but it had never rendered anyone out cold before. Suddenly Liam’s eyes snapped open, rainbow light flowing through them. The voice which spoke was not Liam’s it was LaSheinDei’s. “Fear not Warden. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. The source and the end of sources. I am the days of ages past and the days of ages yet to come. I am that I am.” Abigail fell backward at the sheer power of the presence. On top of that, she believed what she was being told because she felt the most powerful love she had ever felt in her life. Radiant energy began to pour into her being like rainbow liquid. She could feel her chakras opening in a way they never had before, and she could feel her connection to the Earth and the Grove growing more powerful. She opened her eyes and saw someone standing before her, but it was not Liam the thirteen-year-old. No this was a naked man of at least 18 years. He had body hair, a skinny scrawny physique, wavey brown hair, and brown eyes. Liam had made the ultimate choice; he gave up his body and his life so Casimir could live and fulfil his mission whatever it may be. “Who the f**k are you?” “Well, my name is Casimir Yost, I am the witch who used spiritual soul migration to move bodies. I ended up in Liam’s body, but he was too freshly dead. So here I am.” Abigail handed him a sheet. “Well, you must weigh 150 pounds when wet, do you even eat?” “Yes, but I cannot put on weight to save my soul.” “Lawd, we have our work cut out. I have no idea what just happened, but I feel the best I have felt in years, and I am not about to pass up this opportunity. How are you at running?” “Well, when demons are chasing me, I am pretty good.” “Well today I will be the demon, I will give you a thirty-second head start, and I suggest you take it.” Over the next six weeks, it was exercises like this. Being chased, evasion, camouflage, all those sorts of things. Casimir understood their importance, but they were not magical, how was he going to do anything if he could not fight back. Casimir while panting from doing chin-ups looked at Abigail. “So, when am I going to learn some magic?” “Right now, you are learning discipline, self-control, and the ability to survive when all else fails. You already know how to use the magic; it is like breathing. All witches make magic is hard. Magic is in the air, the water, the earth. It is in you, it is in me, and it is in everything.” Casimir nodded. She made perfect sense. He was wad learning to control himself, and control his body, and he had put on a lot of muscle too, and he was looking good when he looked in the mirror. On this day however things were different. Abigail was taking him to the grove. The grove was a magical circle of trees that naturally enhanced spiritual energies in the area. It was also a place where fae and magical creatures could go for protection. As they rounded the rocky corner of the hills Abigail motioned to him. There in the middle of the grove was Avery playing the cello. The song was haunting and beautiful. It told a story of love lost to death and overcoming death as a constellation. Casimir was taken with the music, but the man playing the music was also very intriguing. He was an elf he surmised from the man's ears. He wore a simple tunic and pants. His skill with the cello was amazing. The two approached and Avery stood. Abigail knelt deeply and following suit so did Casimir. He looked up past his nose at the now smiling man. “That is enough of being so serious. I am King Avery of Faelund. And you must be Casimir.” “Yes, yes I am.” “Well, her training is paying off, but it's going to take much more than mere human training to get the job done. There is but one reference in the Hall of Whispers to Zenduraka. She predates this Universe.” Abigail’s eyes widened. She was a demon from the outer darkness. A void demon. Casimir was not totally lost on the significance. If she was that ancient, she had to be immensely powerful, and if this Dark Lord had been feeding her virgins, then she must have been even more powerful. What were they going to do to stop her? Abigail stood up straight, “What do you suggest?” “Let us take him to Faelund, time runs differently there, he can go to the monastery and learn from the Silent Sages.” Abigail thought for a moment. It was not a bad idea, but it would mean they did not have his emergency firepower in a pinch. She did have to agree though. She could not teach him quickly enough to be effective. Zenduraka and the Dark Lord could attack at any time, and if they did that, he would be a cooked duck. “Very well. I am trusting you with his life.” “I understand. Come, Casimir, let us be off.” Avery took Casimir’s hand, and it was like thunder in his chest. His head began to swim, his heart was pounding, he lost his breath, what was this he was feeling. Avery’s piercing blue eyes could be the ocean for all he knew. It was like he was floating. And then he realized they were floating. They slowly lowered to the ground of a magnificent city that had towers and mansions and castles of all sizes. Glittering gold-accented everything. Casimir fell to the ground and vomited. Avery laughed and patted him on the back. “Teleporting can do that to people.” “What is this place?” “Welcome my boy to Solaris. This is the capital city of the seven fae kingdoms. Each kingdom has its own ruler, and then I reside over the other rulers to stop disputes and break up brawls.” He had a cheese-eating grin as he made the comment. Something inside of Casimir wanted to just fall into those eyes, but blushing he looked away. Avery just laughed again. Casimir was adorable. Everything he liked in a man or a woman. He looked at the boy up and down. Nicely proportioned, magically endowed. He would make a good mate if things progressed to that point, or even in that direction. Casimir wondered what he was thinking. Avery as if reading his mind replied. “Are you a virgin?” “Come again?” “Are you a virgin?” “Well, I, uh, yes.” “Good, you have special protections through your purity that other people who have had s*x don’t. The trouble is that power will also make you a target for soul-stealing. Feeding demons virgins gives them incredible powers. What it also means is you have incredible powers at your fingertips. More so than most. Follow me my friend, that huge temple on that mountain there is where we are headed.” Casimir gasped; they were going to have to climb a whole mountain to get there. He did not mind so much if he was with the King, but still, he could only hope all his training made him sting enough to handle the climb. As they set out, they began to chat. “So, what does Casimir mean?” “Well, it's sad really, Casimir means destroyer of peace.” Avery laughed. “That depends on how you look at it. Peace is nice and all, but people become complacent, they forget the past and the price of that peace, they begin to lose sight of what was spent to buy the security and comfort they enjoy. Sometimes taking away someone’s peace and making them uncomfortable is what is needed to make them stronger.” Casimir had always resented his name. Sure, his parents had chosen it because it was cool sounding, but when he found out what it meant he was not impressed. As a Christian, he believed words had power, and that names had power. Naming someone something like a destroyer of peace was like prophesying such a destiny over them. Now looking at it from a new perspective it meant he was there to shake things up, move people from their lofty high places, and get people ready to do their part. Finally reaching the top they were met by a bubbly girl named Ryali. “Welcome welcome, we have been expecting you!” “How could you be expecting us?” “Oh, you will learn that the Grand Sage knows many things she is not directly told. Your Highness I will take it from here.” She bowed deeply and with a smile and swift feet whisked Casimir away into the halls of the huge temple. Down several corridors, they found a room with mats on the floor, a small table near each, a washbasin near each, a chamber pot. This was going to be his new bedroom for the unforeseeable future. If he thought that living with Abigail was hard, at least there he was allowed to sleep in an actual bed. Here he had a mat on the ground and no blanket.
