George's POV:
Better known as my arch rival, Adam Dawson was the man whom I beat to win the 'Footballer of the Year' award, both previous year, and the year before that. We played in the same league. But I was always ahead of him. I scored more goals than him, assisted more goals than him, and was a better team player as compared to him. I had heard a lot of times that his teammates were never happy with his attitude and his behavior, and that he was very rude and arrogant and moreover, considered himself to be the best and superior to all his teammates.
But what the hell was this douche doing with Rachel? Were they dating?
I knew Rachel well enough to understand that she would never ever be with a guy like him. She was a very innocent girl and would never want to be with a guy just for his money.
I needed to know what the hell was going on!
“Hey babe! I see that you are indeed talking to my favorite rival. The one who beat me twice to win that trophy. What were you even talking about? Do you both know each other?” He asked with a questioning look.
Rachel on the other hand was trembling with fear. I didn’t know what was up with her, but something just didn’t feel right. I saw her gasp in fear as Adam tightened his grip on her waist. Was he forcing her somehow?
“Babe, talk to me. Don’t you know that I love your smiling face? Come on, smile for me baby.” He gave her an innocent yet cunning smile. She nervously smiled back. Adam kissed her on her cheek.
“That’s like my girl. Give your boyfriend a loving kiss now.” He signaled towards his cheeks. Rachel gulped in fear as she went ahead and gave him a kiss. He smiled proudly and looked at me.
“Hey George! I see that you were taking to my girlfriend right now. You guys know each other?”
“Hey Adam. Its great seeing you again. Yes, I and Rachel know each other from high school.”
“What? Really! Why didn’t you tell that to me babe? We have been together since more than a year, and you never told this to me. That’s really very wrong.” His eyes were piercing through her, and she was looking so nervous.
“Babe, are you okay? You don’t seem to be well. Come on talk to me. You don’t want to be punished right?”
Her eyes opened wide in fear on hearing the word ‘punished’. What did he mean by punish? Did he actually hit her or abuse her?
“I am… I am fine.” She struggled to speak. Adam chuckled.
“Relax babe. Of course I won’t punish you. I love you, and there are no punishments in love. Although you should be punished for talking to some guy other than me.” Her jaw dropped and her eyes became wide open. Her body was shaking uncontrollably.
“But since George is your friend from school, I forgive you.” Saying this, he winked at her. Her body relaxed and she let out a sigh of relief.
The entire time I was almost silent. I needed to know what was going on. Two minutes back, she was talking to me so cheerfully. And since the moment Adam had arrived, Rachel didn’t even once look up towards me. She was consistently staring at the floor. What was this son of a b***h even doing to her?
“George, it was a pleasure meeting you. Now if you please excuse us, we have to go. I need to talk to my girl in private. See you later.”
He turned around and was about to start walking away when he suddenly turned back and said, “Hey man, if you guys are really good friends from school, why don’t you visit us some day at my place and have lunch with us. I would be delighted to have my friend c*m rival at my place. Plus, people would love the fact that the rivals of the century are having dinner together.”
“Sure, I would also love to meet you guys again. After all, Rachel and I have a lot to catch up on.” I told him.
My first statement made him smile, but after hearing my second statement, there was a glimpse of anger clearly visible on his face. He forced a smile and holding Rachel’s wrist, walked away. There was terror on her face as she followed him.
She looked back at me with eyes full of helplessness. But then she looked ahead.
Something was definitely wrong. And I needed to know what. I knew Adam was a pathetic man, and I couldn’t let Rachel be with him. So I decided to follow them.

Rachel's POV:
Seeing George after so many years brought back tons of memories to my mind. Oh how I used to go and watch all the football matches just for looking at him once. He was the most handsome guy in our school and every girl had her eyes on him. I always felt that I was way out of his league. He was always surrounded by the most popular and richest people of the school. And being the captain of the football team, he was indeed the most desirable guy in the entire school.
But George never had a girlfriend. He had the most beautiful and hot girls of our school begging him to be their boyfriend. And he never accepted their proposals. George denied every girl saying that, “some other girl has my heart.” And with that statement he left everyone to wonder who had taken his heart away, but no one ever came to know.
School got over and I never saw him again, until I came to know from the newspapers that he has become a world famous footballer and that he has won the ‘Footballer of the Year’ award. I was so happy for him that year.
Seeing him stand right next to me made me fell so giddy, it felt amazing how someone so popular was talking to a nobody like me. In fact, he seemed a bit nervous as well. Maybe it was because of seeing an old schoolmate after so many years.
We were having a great conversation, until he asked me what I was doing at that party.
How could I tell him the truth? I was strictly told by the devil himself to not tell anyone about us. I tried to lie. But then I felt an arm on my waist. The mere touch was enough for me to know that it was Adam, the man who ruined my life.
I never came to know why he did that. But he ruined everything for me and blackmailed me to be his girlfriend or else he would kill my family.
I hated this man with everything I had inside me. And I even tried to escape twice. But both the times he caught me and punished me so badly that I couldn’t move for the next two days. He whipped me and spanked me, and even used his belt to hit me. And after the second time, he threatened to kill my brother if I tried to run away again. That particular threat was enough for me to accept my defeat and be his slave till he wants.
Standing in front of George, he talked to me as if I was his life and that he was nothing without me. But he was a liar, and I couldn’t even bare the feeling of standing next to him. He tried to fake his love. But then he said that he needed to talk to me in private.
Hearing this, I got terrified. My heart sank like every other time that he said that.
Private talk meant punishment.
He always did this in front of people. He held my hand and started to walk away but then turned to George and invited him over to dinner. Having George at Adam’s house meant that I would get to meet him again. I felt like blushing at the thought of having dinner with him. But all my thoughts were brushed aside as I Adam held my hand tightly and took me up the stairs. I very well knew what was going to happen, because this wasn’t the first time. Yet, like every time, I was scared, scared for my life.
I looked back at George one last time, as I tried to tell him about my misery through my eyes. But he had a questioning look on his face. Defeated, I looked ahead and let Adam take me to a room and close the door behind us.
