Ethan’s pov “You eat like you’re starving,” my father says, his tone half disgust, half amusement. He watches me shovel another piece of pastry into my mouth. The frosting sticks to my fingers, and I lick it off just to annoy him. The man flinches, of course. He has always hated when I do anything less than “civilized.” I ignore the judgment in his eyes. I have not eaten since the day before yesterday. Between rushing to the hospital because of Lena’s episode, finding Alex and Michael together, and Alex not even bothering to come back later that night, I totally forgot about food. Now that I’m sitting here, the smell of coffee and sugar feels almost healing. Almost. Across from me, my father leans back in his chair, a dark coat thrown over his shoulders even though it is warm outside
