`Chapter 7: A Warning` The next morning, my phone buzzed. An unknown number. The message was short. "Stay away from Alessandro. Or you will die like her." My hands went cold. Who was "her"? The woman from the photo? I deleted it. I did not tell Alessandro. He would only get angry. In the afternoon, I went to the garden. The mansion felt smaller. I had a feeling someone was watching me. When I turned, there was no one. Only shadows. At night, I saw a car parked outside the gate. It did not leave for hours. I told the guard. He checked, but the car was gone. "Must be your imagination, Mrs. Moretti," he said. That night I could not sleep. I locked my door twice. When Alessandro came to my room at midnight, he looked furious. "Someone is asking questions about you," he said. "From now on, you do not go out alone. That is my order." He left without another word. For the first time, I realized I was not safe in this marriage. I was in danger. I locked my door twice that night. I was not safe in this marriage anymore. Alessandro was the only one who could protect me, or destroy me.
