The Night We Met

Episode 1 – The Night We Met Amara pressed her bag tightly against her chest as she stepped into the quiet office building. The night was unusually still, and the soft hum of the streetlights outside barely reached her. She wasn’t supposed to be here this late, but some urgent paperwork needed finishing before tomorrow. The elevator dinged, and she stepped in, alone. Her mind replayed the events of the day—small victories, small disappointments, the usual rush of life—but none of it prepared her for him. When the elevator doors opened to the top floor, she froze. Standing by the window was a man, his sharp suit dark against the glow of the city lights. He didn’t turn at first, just stared out at the skyline, but there was a presence about him—powerful, confident, yet somehow familiar. Amara’s heart skipped. She didn’t know why, but something about him made her pulse quicken. She swallowed, trying to calm herself, but the air seemed heavy, electric. “Can I help you?” His voice broke the silence, smooth and low. “I… I’m just finishing some work,” she stammered, suddenly aware of how ordinary she felt next to him. He turned then, eyes sharp and assessing. “I see.” A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “Don’t stay too long.” Amara nodded, unsure if she wanted to leave—or stay. That night, nothing felt ordinary anymore.
