The next morning, Amara tried to focus on her work, but her mind kept drifting back to him—Daniel. The way he had looked out the window, the faint smile at the elevator… it was impossible to forget.

Her coworkers noticed her distracted mood, but she only smiled politely, pretending everything was normal. Inside, her heart was racing. She had never felt such a mix of curiosity and fear. Who was he really? And why did he affect her like this?

At lunch, Amara found herself in the building lobby again, grabbing a quick coffee. And there he was. Daniel, leaning casually against the counter, eyes scanning the floor until they landed on her. Her stomach tightened.

“You’re early today,” he said, his voice low but teasing.

“I… had some things to finish,” she replied, nervously tucking her hair behind her ear.

He smirked. “I can tell you like staying busy.”

Amara smiled, unsure whether to feel flustered or annoyed. Something about his calm confidence made her heart skip every time.

As she turned to leave, she noticed a small envelope tucked under her coffee cup. Confused, she picked it up and opened it. Inside was a single note in neat handwriting:

"Don’t trust everyone. Especially those who seem perfect."

Her hands trembled. Who had left it? And why did it make her think of him immediately?
