Amara couldn’t shake the note from her mind. “Don’t trust everyone. Especially those who seem perfect.”

She tried to convince herself it was a prank. Maybe a colleague? But something about it felt personal… and oddly connected to Daniel.

Later that afternoon, she returned to the office lounge to grab her documents, only to find Daniel waiting there. He looked calm, almost casual, but his eyes held a sharp intensity that made her pulse race.

“Did you get the note?” he asked suddenly.

Amara froze. “I… what note?”

He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “The one that warns you about trusting the wrong people. Don’t ignore it.”

Her heart thudded. Was he trying to scare her? Or… warn her?

Before she could respond, the fire alarm rang, blaring loudly through the building. People rushed out, chaos everywhere. Amara felt Daniel’s hand on her elbow, steadying her. She looked up into his eyes—so close, so intense.

And in that moment, the world around them disappeared.

Then, a strange shadow moved across the hall, unseen by anyone else. Amara blinked, unsure if she imagined it… but a chill ran down her spine.

Something was not right in this office, and Daniel knew more than he was letting on.
