Chapter 2 A pot of acorn coffee sat warming on the wood-burning stove in the kitchen. It bubbled and boiled as it filled the cottage with its strong, earthy aroma. When it finished brewing, Travis poured two glasses and brought one over to the woman sitting at his table. Dark, curly black hair and caramel skin, she watched him with a pair of brown, careworn eyes as she smiled softly and accepted the cup from him.
