Chapter 004

1044 Words
Juan’s P•O•V I gazed out at the bustling surroundings, my mind still reeling from the day’s events. Being a slave, I wasn’t often given access to the Pack’s inner workings, but today had been an exception. Linda and I had been tasked with assisting the Pack’s staff, and as we finished our chores, the head maid dismissed us. As we made our way out, the air was filled with chants of ‘Long live the Alpha and Luna!’ Linda and I exchanged a wary glance before joining in, our voices blending with the others. When we raised our heads, I caught the Luna’s gaze. Her eyes widened, and she strode towards me, calling out my name, “Juan?” I froze, unsure of what to expect. The Luna’s eyes scanned my face, and then she pulled me into a tight hug. The room fell silent, with all eyes on us. The Alpha’s voice broke the silence, “Juan?” I disengaged from the Luna’s hug, my eyes locking onto the Alpha’s. And then I saw him, my master. His eyes met mine. The Luna, Valerie, spoke up, her voice filled with emotion, “She’s your sister, Elwyn. She’s finally back to us,” The room erupted into a flurry of activity as the Pack members dispersed, leaving Elwyn and me alone. I took a step forward, my eyes never leaving his, “Elwyn?” He stood frozen, his arms at his sides. I could sense the turmoil brewing inside him. And then, in a burst of emotion, I flung myself into his arms. His arms wrapped around my waist, holding me close as I sobbed into his chest. I pulled back from the hug, my eyes locking onto his. I could sense the guilt and self-blame radiating from him. I reached out, placing a hand on his cheek. “I’m not mad at you, Elwyn. You’d never hurt me. Let’s just blame fate for separating us,” I said softly. Elwyn’s eyes searched mine, his expression a mix of sadness and longing. I could tell he wanted to say something, but the words remained unspoken. I smiled, feeling a rush of nostalgia. I leaned in, peppering his face with kisses. My lips brushed against his, and I felt a sudden urge to peck his lips like I used to when we were kids. But Elwyn caught my chin, in a gentle way but firm, “You’re too beautiful for that now, Xanthe,” He said, more like a whispers. I frowned, feeling a pang of disappointment, “What’s the difference? I used to do it all the time,” Elwyn’s eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, “You’re not a little girl anymore. I’ll be back soon, I promise,” He said, holding my hand, and intertwining fingers with mine I nodded, feeling a twinge of sadness. I wasn’t happy with the way he’d welcomed me back, especially after refusing my attempt to peck his lips. But I knew Elwyn would keep his promise. I turned and ran back to my mother’s room, feeling extremely happy and relieved to have finally reunited with my brother after twelve long years. ×Elwyn’s P•O•V× I walked away from Juan, feeling a pang of guilt and regret. I knew I shouldn’t have left her like that, but I couldn’t shake off the weight of my own guilt. Why hadn’t I recognized my own sister? I thought back to our parents’ reactions. They seemed happy, relieved even, but they hadn’t said a word about what had happened. What had caused our separation? I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on Juan instead. Her attempt to peck my lips had caught me off guard. It was a habit she’d had as a child, but she was older now. It wasn’t appropriate anymore. I understood that she was sad, that she felt rejected. But there were things she couldn’t understand. I took a deep breath, trying to shake off the feeling of guilt. But I promised myself that I would make it up to her. I walked into the Pack house, my mind still reeling from the events of the day. I hadn’t stayed long, needing some time to clear my head. As I entered our home, I was greeted by the sight of Juan setting the table. She smiled when she saw me, beckoning me to take a seat. Our parents were nowhere to be found, but that was nothing new. We started eating, and I could sense her curiosity. She kept smiling as she watched me eat, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Once I finished eating, she had left before I was done. I walked into my room to find her fast asleep on my bed. I couldn’t help but scoff, she’d always been a fast sleeper. I took off my shirt and lay down beside her, feeling a pang of nostalgia. Juan had always loved cuddling up close to me. When I reached for the duvet, she stirred, pulling me closer to her and resting her head on my chest. “Tell me about your day,” She mumbled, sounding very much sleepy, “It was good,” I replied, trying to keep my tone light. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at me, “Tell me more,” I hesitated, unsure of how much to share. But her eyes sparkled with curiosity, and I couldn’t resist her, “It was just hectic,” I said finally. Juan nodded, seeming to accept my answer, “I’m glad I can rest my head on your chest. It feels so good,” She said, snuggling closer to me. I nodded, starting to stroke her hair. Her eyes began to droop, and she mumbled something about my wolf, “Have you seen your wolf?” She asked, whispering. I nodded, “Yes, I have. He’s red and brown, just like you predicted,” Her face broke into a sleepy smile, “I knew it. I want to help the Pack by becoming a doctor. I don’t want anyone to get hurt,” My heart swelled with pride, and I felt a surge of protectiveness towards my little sister.
