Prologue

My life before him was a dull repeat of endless routine that never seemed to end. My parents travelled most of the time, leaving me to my own devices since I turned thirteen when they felt a nanny was no longer required. They sent money home for food every month and a little extra for the little things I might want as their sorry excuse for an apology for not being around. I had just celebrated my birthday alone, again, a week before that day that he came into my life, or I stumbled into his, whichever you prefer. Turning eighteen was a huge thing for me because it meant I could do things grown up would, such a drink and smoke legally. Funny thing was that I wasn’t interested in those things. I was too innocent and very lonely. No one wanted to be friends with the girl whose parents left her alone for months on end in some huge house. That story gave people the chills and I don’t blame them. Being left alone meant I concentrated on my studies, trying to make my parents proud but my mom being an international lawyer and my father a well-known surgeon, nothing was good enough. With my parents having such good paying careers, I was gifted with some luxury that other kids didn’t have, which I think made them hate me more. I lived in a mansion on the upper side of town where most snobs lived and was granted a pool, a hot tub, walk in closets shopping opportunities and a whole lot more that other rich kids were fortunate to have. After all things being gifted to me, I wasn’t a snob that most people around campus thought, and it made me so much more depressed knowing that others assumed so much of me that was not nearly the truth. Little did I know after one fateful day, my whole life of black and white routine would change when he moved in a few houses from me and change my whole perspective of life forever.
